Tigerpaw was sleeping in the apprentice's den. "Tigerpaw, wake up!" her mentor Lionspot shouted. "Oh yeah," Tigerpaw mumbled sleepy. 'I haven't sleep that long. I don't want to go to training,' she thought. "You're going on a patrol with Waterclaw, Wetpelt, Heartspot and Blossomwhisker. Okay?" Lionspot said. "Why aren't you coming?" Tigerpaw asked. "Because i'm going to help Rivertree and Dawnpaw," Lionspot answered. "Okay, see you later," Tigerpaw muttered. "I guess." 'He doesn't want to become a medicine cat, does he?' she asked herself. She walked over to the other cats from the border patrol. "I'm leading this patrol," Waterclaw said. "That's great," Wetpelt mumbled. 'I wish Peltclaw was here. It's so boring in Riverclan,' Tigerpaw thought. She sighed loudly. 'Why did Dawnpaw choose to become a Medicine cat apprentice? I'm so lonely now, we were supposed to be doing eve together.' "Is something wrong Tigerpaw? You look a bit sad," Heartspot said. "Everything is fine. I'm just a little sleepy," she answered. 'I still don't understand that Lionspot is rather in the medicine cats den, then training me. It's weird,'Tigerpaw thought. "Did you hear me, Tigerpaw?" Waterclaw asked. "Oh," Tigerpaw mumbled. "No, I'm sorry." "Just try to listen to me now. Alright?" Waterclaw said. Tigerpaw nodded. 'Why is Waterclaw training me now?' she thought.
Mouseheart and Flaringpaw were organising their herbs. "All cats old enough to catch there own prey, must gather below the high rock for a clan meeting!" Breezestar yelled. Mouseheart and her apprentice ran to the high rock immediately. "Tonight we are going to the great gathering on the island. I want to announce who are coming with me," the leader said. "Cinderblaze, Mouseheart and Flaringpaw you are obviously coming." Flaringpaw purred happily when he heard his name. "The others that I want to come with us are Deepblow, Willoweyes, Applepaw, Turtlefur, Blackpaw and Grasspetal." Applepaw and Blackpaw looked happily at each other, because it was their first gathering.
When the full moon was finally shown, Fairystar led some of the cats from her clan to the island. Those who where with her were Palefur, Redfur, Dasclaw, Greenclaw, Scorpionfeather, Whitefoot, Peltclaw, Sharkfur, Lilyfeather, Shinypaw and Snowstorm. 'I didn't want to take Peltclaw,' Fairystar thought. 'But now I can at least keep an eye on him.' The cats got to the island, Fairystar turned to her clan. Suddenly she realised Peltclaw was gone. 'Where is he?' she asked herself. She looked around, but couldn't find him anywhere. Fairystar sighed.
