Lovin' You Is Easy (A Sophitz Story)

Part 3

"Wait...what?" Sophie said, her heart fluttering. There was no way THE Fitz Vacker liked her, just a freaky brown-eyed genetic experiment.

"Yeah....but you like me?"

"Um.... I'velikedyousincethedayImetyou." Sophie blurted.

"Sorry?" 

Sophie sighed. There was no going back now. "I've liked you since the day I met you." she told Fitz, slower this time.

Fitz blushed. "I like you too, Sophie. A lot."

Now it was Sophie's turn to blush. "Well...do you want to go back to Everglen now? I guess we're pretty much finished with our Cognate training at this point." She added. 

Fitz flashed his famous movie star smile that Sophie couldn't get enough of, and extended his hand to Sophie. "Sure, the group will be wondering when we're coming back."

As she accepted his hand, Sophie wasn't sure what was taking up more of her headspace, the fact that Fitz Vacker liked her back, or the expected embarrassment that was awaiting them.

Keefe and Biana smirked as Sophie and Fitz came through the Fitz's doorway, hands intertwined beautifully. That was the first thing Sophie noticed. The second thing was the fact that Linh, Tam, Dex, and Marella had joined them. 

The two flustered elves greeted them happily, blushing whenever they made eye contact.

After a while, Biana grew impatient and drew the attention to Sophie and Fitz by exclaiming loudly, "What did you do at Havenfield?" which caused the Cognates-in-training to turn red.

"Well...we just did some trust exercises." Fitz finished, wanting the subject to change. Sophie noticed and asked, "What do you guys want to do?"

At that moment, Della knocked on Fitz's bedroom door, and said, "I'm very sorry darlings, but we have a very important dinner with the Council tonight, so you will have to cut your hangout short. Oh, and Sophie, you look wonderful in that OOTD!"

Sophie blushed, and Della added "Beauty is never a waste." And with that, she left.

She blushed even more as a familiar deep voice rang through her head melodiously. 

She's right you know. You look pretty as always. 

Her heart fluttered at the thought of Fitz calling her pretty.

Thank you. She replied meekly.

They were interrupted by Biana squealing loudly and Keefe yelling "Enough with the staring into each other's eyes! EPIC FITZPHIE-FEST"

Sophie and Fitz flushed crimson and they looked anywhere but each other, which make the others snicker and Biana squeal even louder.

Sophie remembered with a jolt of sadness that it was time for her to leave, along with the rest of her friends, aside from Biana and Fitz. Her heart pounded at the mere thought of him. 

Sophie assumed the rest of her friends had remembered at the same time, as they all started to get up and hug each other goodbye. 

She walked with her friends to the Leapmaster, and as she faded away, her cheek felt a pair of silk-smooth lips. She met the person's teal eyes, and thought of all the times that she thought Fitz kissing her was a childish dream.
