Sophie POV

Sophie paced around her room, her stomach jittering. Biana had told her that Fitz was on his way to pick her up through their imparters, and Sophie had been on the verge of crying ever since Biana had left.

Sophie knew she wasn't good enough, and as soon as Fitz went back to the Elite Towers, he would love all the girls there. She would mean nothing to him. And she didn't blame Fitz. Sometimes she wondered if he actually liked her or if he just felt bad for her. Because.....he was Fitz Vacker. And she was Sophie Foster.

And then she heard a cautious knock at the door.

Time skip

Hand in hand, the two oblivious but hopelessly in love elves delved deeper into their affections for each other, as they shared updates on their lives in the shadows of Eternalia, over a gourmet picnic that Fitz had baked. They talked until the silence was loud, they had nothing more to talk about.

Fitz POV

Fitz knew that Biana would kill him, but he wasn't sure it was the right time for him to bring up Sophie's self esteem. She seemed to be having a good time, and that was all Fitz wanted. Just one normal day for her. One without the stress of school or cognating, or anything at all. A/N NEVERSEEN HAS BEEN DEFEATED.

"Fitz?"

"Yeah. Sorry, I zoned out for a second."

"It's ok! I was just asking when you were coming back from the Elite Levels again."

"Oh! Um, I think somewhere around a month after I go back." Fitz said, sadness pulling at his heart. He knew how much he would miss Sophie. After all, he did lo-like her a lot. This was getting a bit awkward. They hadn't been talking as much as they had before. The reason for Fitz was because it had just sunk into his brain that this was a real date. He wondered-hoped that it was the same for his cognate crush.

"Oh." Sophie replied half heartedly.

Was she disappointed? Fitz was glad she liked him enough to be disappointed, but was sad to cause her pain.

The two walked for around half an hour, beaming and basking in each others company.

"Sophie, did I ever tell you how pretty you look tonight?"

Sophie snorted.  "It's all Biana."

Fitz turned semi-serious,clutching her hands, and so his heart skipped a couple beats. "No, it's really not. You. are. the. prettiest. and. bravest. and. kindest. and. smartest. woman. I've. ever. met. WIth or without Biana's stupid makeup. And I'm the luckiest man in the world to have you alongside me."

Fitz's face tinged pink, and Sophie blushed as red as a stop sign, and sighed, "Thank you, Fitz. That was really sweet of you to say. But I'm just as lucky to have you, if not more lucky." Sophie said.

Fitz gently wrapped his arms around her, surrounding and protecting her in a tight embrace. The two lightleaped back to Havenfield, and Sophie spun around to face Fitz.

She spoke in a rushed manner; almost like she was late for something, but then she  closed her eyes, went onto her tiptoes, and kissed him on the lips. It was a short peck, but Fitz felt a spark running through his veins. Like he loved her. Did he love her? Was it too soon? Was it right? Fitz could only answer the last question.

YES.

He knew what came next.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He blurted.

Sophie blushed and she looked starstruck.

"............O-of course!" she answered after a bit of stammering.

Fitz thought his and Sophie's faces would explode from the red colour to the cheesy smiles plastered across their faces. One question down, one to go.

"I..was...also wondering.. I had a lot of fun tonight... and I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date before I head to the Elite Levels."

He looked into the beautiful chocolate brown and gold eyes that he got lost in, and found the answer there.

If it's with you, then of course.

They sealed the deal with a sweet goodnight peck.
