Emma's P.O.V
There she was, standing right in front of me, smirking. Her eyes carrying mischief, I knew she wasn't here to just learn.
"Ah, Crystal. Come in." Mr. Garcia's voice breaks me out of my thoughts. She smiles wickedly as she brushes past me to greet Principal Garcia. I close the door gently behind me. Thoughts race across my head once again. What is Crystal doing back in Winter Springs? Is she staying with Justin and his mom again? Is Ryder planning something with her or Jenny? Should I believe anything they say? It could all be a facade!
The door opens behind me, revealing Crystal once more.
How long was I standing outside this room?
"Oh, hey. Emma, is it? It's nice seeing you again!" Crystal smirks, tugging at her side bag. "See I'd love to stay and chat but I have to be somewhere. But I'll see you around!"
With one last faked smile, she walks off to her class. I take a second to gather everything that just happened when a hand touches my shoulder.
"Ms. Chambers, What are you still doing here? I thought you had already left for your class." I turn around to face Mr. Garcia.
"Oh, I had a question. Is Um, Crystal back into school here in Winter Springs?"
"Ah, yes. You two are friends, right?"
"Kind Of."
"Yes, she is joining us here again. Her mother contacted me saying, She will be here for the last semester. They are staying in town. I guess now you two girls can catch up and do whatever teenage best friends do." He chuckles awkwardly. "Alright. Well, I have to contact the authorities about Jason. Get to class. I sense you are already late for 4th period."
"Okay. Thank you." I smile and leave. I walk into my 4th period class, distracted. Crystal is here now and so is Ryder and Jenny. I sit down in one of the seats at the back of the class. The teacher's voice fade as my thoughts consume me.
What made Mr. Garcia think that Crystal and I are best friends? It's the craziest thing. What is she back for though? What if Jenny is only pretending to repent for her mistakes so she can get close to me and find out my secrets for Crystal and Ryder? Why are all of them here again? It can't be a coincidence. Can it? What are they planning? I definitely have to find out.
The lunch bell rings sending me back to the real world. Students start rushing out in hopes of getting on the lunch line first. I pick up my bag and begin to walk out when the teacher calls me.
"Emma? Can you stay for five minutes?" Mrs. Milsha asks.
"Yes, Mrs. Milsha?" I turn back and walk to her desk.
"I noticed you were not paying attention in class and I just wanted to check in with you to see if everything's alright?"
"Yeah, everything's fine."
"Okay, that's good. I also asked you to stay back so I can talk to you about your grades. Lately, you've been distracted and your grades are beginning to show that. It's not soon before your education is suffering. Just remember if you need someone to talk to, I'm here to help." Mrs. Milsha smiles.
"Thanks. I'll be alright." I smile back. I tug on my bag strap and walk out the classroom, making my way to my locker. Once I reach my locker, I open it and shove my books in it.
