"Give me that! It's my hat!"
"If you want it, come and get it." Josh muses.
"Stop it, you two. You guys have been fighting with each other for the past few days already." I interrupt. Ava and Josh both stop in their tracks and look at me.
"Emma, it's not fighting if she enjoys it." Josh grins.
"I don't enjoy it, dipwit!" Ava frowns at him. I laugh at their behavior. I could easily tell they were going to like each other.
How do I know, you ask?
That's how it all started with Justin and look where we are now.
"Emma, can you please tell him to give me my hat back?" Ava asks.
"Josh, can you please give her hat back? It's movie night and we're about to start."
Josh sighs before handing her hat back to her.
"Only doing this because the movie is about to start and I don't want to miss it." Josh explains himself. Ava smiles in victory before mouthing a 'Thank you.'
It's been a week since school started and the homework was endless. We finally got it done all on Friday because I urged them to. The weekend got cleared up and we were having a movie night tonight. I invited Ava since she is now a part of our group. She turned out to be pretty cool once we got to know her and since she is the new member, we decided to let her pick the movie for tonight. Jacob forgave Jason a couple days back but there was still something odd about the way he behaved.
Ryder wasn't seen after my first encounter with him. It was like he disappeared off the end of the earth or he was merely a figment of my imagination. I know he wasn't as Justin, Stacy and Alex had already seen him. There were a lot of things going on with that guy and I had the urge to find out.
A warm tingling hand snaked its' way around my waist, pulling me closer to the person they belonged to. I look up to see Justin. He smiles at me before turning to face the flat screen displaying the opening credits of the movie.
"You seem to be thinking a lot these past few days. What's wrong?" His breath fans against my ear in a whisper.
"Thinking about how everyone became so close. We're practically all best friends now. Having a new friend and last year of High school. I want to make it count. I just hope nothing gets in the way of our happiness." I smile at him, feeling uneasy. He squeezes my hand in reassurance that he won't let that happen.
"Let's make this a great year and do something so grand people will bound to remember us, maybe make it into the school's history." He replies.
"We should but for right now, let's enjoy the movie."
I glance at everyone. Alex and Stacy snuggled up to each other, Jason eating popcorn like a madman as his eyes fixated on the movie, Jacob occasionally scrolling through text messages and lastly but not least, Ava and Josh often elbowing and scowling at each other. I nudge Justin in the side before he looks down at me with concern written on his face.
"What's wrong?"
"Look at Ava and Josh."
Justin raises his eyes to Ava and Josh's direction. A smile makes its' way onto his face.
"They remind me of us. Remember that time when you said you hated me." Justin air quotes "hate."
"I did dislike you a lot. I just didn't realize when it turned into love." I remark.
