Anna walked down the hallway of a very large building, maids and servants scurried past, eager to get to where they needed to be. Anna wore a suit with a red tie and newly polished shoes, she adjusted her tie as she entered the doors of her privet study.
To her displeasure, someone was waiting for her. Henry turned around and gave her a smirk and nod of the head.
Anna sighed and took a seat behind her desk, "How may I help you, Mr. Tudor?""President Cleves!" Henry adjusted his well-oiled hair, "I've just come to wish you congratulations!"
"Is that all?"
Henry seemed baffled at her sourness, "Well, yes, I believe so."
Anna began reading one of the many papers stacked on her desk, "Good night, Mr. Tudor."
Henry scoffed and turned, nearly tripping over the carpet on his way out. Anna relaxed a little as he left the room, Henry was her biggest political opponent, and it annoyed her at how daft he was, it was a miracle he was still in office. Henry had come to wish her congratulations cuz she was elected, even though it could be seen as a nicety, it annoyed Anna.
Now, you are properly wondering about Anna's current political status. And the answer to that, dear reader, may shock you, for Anna of Cleves was president of the world.
That is a tidal only few could claim and is only undertaken in a time of crisis. Many of the world's other leaders were displeased at the decision to invoke the role, but it was needed. The Earth is nearing its end, the sun is expanding, and all of the human race needs to be off of their planet and in the next solar system before that happens– otherwise, they would risk extinction. And it's up to Anna to find a solution.
President Cleves began pouring over a document, her eyes scanning the lines of writing. She didnt ask for this position, it was just handed to her. There wasn't to much of a vote, not even a meeting about it, and Anna had no clue why she was chosen.
If she could have, she would have declined the job, but it wasn't up to her. Being President of the world came with many responsibilities and dangers. She had to find a way to save the human race –one that was realistic and affordable. It was the second requirement she was struggling with.
As Anna sat in thought, the papers sitting on her desk long forgotten, she didn't notice a figure in black at the window. The person was agile and silent. They opened the window and crawled into Anna's study.
Now, Anna –who had her back to the window– was not daft. She already had her hand wrapped around a locked and loaded gun. She waited a minute, miming reading her phone as she did so. And then she spun around in her chair, gun pointed directly at the person's chest.
The person squeaked and quickly put their hands up. Anna frowned, noticing the gun that was strapped to the person's side, easily within reach that they had not thought to grab.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Anna stood, keeping her gun trained on the person's heart.
"Please! I wasn't gonna do anything!" The person's voice was rather high-pitched.
Anna raised an eyebrow, "Then why did you sneak in through my window?"
"I just needed to look like I was gonna do something to you! I wasn't going to though!"
Anna frowned, "Remove your mask."
"I really shouldn't–"
"Now." Anna tightened her grip on the gun.
The person seemed to realize that they weren't going to get out of this and removed their– her mask. Anna studied the girl before her, she had dark hair dyed pink at the tips and brown eyes. She looked only nineteen, not much younger than Anna herself.
"What's your name?" Anna had half a mind to lower her gun but was still weary of the girl.
"Kathrine. Kathrine Howard." The girl's eyes were locked onto the gun in Annas hand.
"Alright, Kathrine." Anna let Kathrines name roll off her tongue, "Why are you here?"
"I didnt want to!" Kathrine looked on the verge of a breakdown, "He– he said that if I– I didnt, um, k–kill you he would h-hurt me."
Anna slowly lowered her gun, she didnt think that this girl, who was near tears would hurt her, correction: she didnt think Kathrine had it in her. "Who?"
"I–I can't tell you." Kathrine looked as pale as a ghost.
"Kathrine," Anna stepped closer, "who threatened you?"
The younger girl looked around the room, for an escape, but when she found none she gave in, "H-Henry Tudor."
"That son of a bitch!" Anna cursed. She walked over to the other side of the room, careful to keep her eyes on Kathrine.
"Please don't hurt me! I wasn't gonna do it!" Kathrine begged.
Anna frowned, "I belave you."
"Really?" Kathrine was rather taken aback.
For some reason Anna trusted Kathrine, she saw a kind of innocence in the girl's eyes. And, though Anna didnt know it at the time, she would grow to love the girl standing before her."Go." Anna pointed at the open window, "Get out of here. I won't tell anyone, just get somewhere safe."
Kathrine was rather confused but did as she was told, but before she jumped from the windowsill she turned to face Anna, "Thank you, thank you so much."
Anna didnt respond, but she heard the sound of Kathrine jumping to the ground and assumed that the girl would be smart and get as far away from here as she possibly could. But that wasn't Annas's current concern. She had to deal with Henry now. And she could guarantee that he would be spending a lot of time in jail.
