"My apologies, young men, but may you please repeat yourself? I'm having trouble understanding," Toshinori said, his brittle hands grasping his bony knees as he leaned forward on the couch. Izuku shifted awkwardly before him, glancing at Katsuki for help.
Katsuki nodded. "Deku got hit by a weird quirk–"
"We think," Izuku muttered.
Katsuki ignored him. "–And we're hoping that you can take us to Yuuei so we can talk to Mr. Aizawa and have him use his quirk to send Deku home."
Toshinori furrowed his eyebrows. "I understood that much," he said. "I'm just wondering where, exactly, young Midoriya is coming from. It doesn't make sense to me."
Katsuki and Izuku exchanged strange glances. "W-well," Izuku stammered. "We're thinking it's, like, an alternate reality. Or dimension or something."
Toshinori gave them a skeptical look. Izuku didn't sound too confident in himself, so Katsuki took the lead.
"In Deku's reality, things are a lot different than they are here. Like, for example, our friendship. Or lack thereof, technically. And the hero rankings and national history and stuff. Even stuff like my mom. She's still alive where Deku is from. It's too specific for him to make it all up. Also, if you hadn't noticed, his personality is a lot different."
Toshinori nodded. "Yes, I was wondering why he was acting so timid."
Izuku let out a nervous squeak. Usually, All Might only ever referred to him as courageous and brave, the future number one hero. Timid? Well, it wasn't exactly a compliment, and it did nothing for Izuku's faltering self-esteem.
"He's nervous," Katsuki jumped in. "And rightfully so. He got mysteriously transported to another reality, a few months back in time. All we know is that we need to get him home as soon as possible."
Izuku still felt a bit off about returning to his reality. Katsuki was mean there. Even if he wasn't as bad as he was in middle school, it still wasn't something Izuku wanted to deal with. Especially after spending time with the blonde's angelic doppelganger.
And there were other things, too. Like Endeavor. Izuku had gathered a few clues about how the Todoroki household operated, but it wasn't ever in the forefront of his mind. Now, after hearing that Endeavor was serving a life sentence... Well, it made Izuku nervous. Scared, even. How could a man like that be one of the top heroes?
Izuku didn't want to go home, not really. Surely the other version of himself was handling things over there, right? Based on the clues Izuku was able to scrape up from Kat, his Izuku was strong and fierce and unstoppable. He could definitely handle Kacchan better.
But on the other hand, Kat had filled Izuku with a new sense of urgency to patch things up with his Kacchan. And, more importantly, communicate how he felt about the way he was treated. Izuku was determined to set things straight– he knew he could! And, when Katsuki understood and apologized, Izuku would confess his feelings.
It was a little wonky, Izuku had to admit, but it was going to work out.
So, he pushed the little bit of doubt and fear from his mind. What was it Kat told him to think?
"Just keep telling yourself: I'm Midoriya-fucking-Izuku! I got this!"
"He's right," Izuku said. "I need to get home. Now."
Toshinori sighed, cradling his head in his hands. "I can speak to Eraserhead, but I can't guarantee anything. After all, I'm just a secretary over there."
"Just try your best. That's all we ask," Katsuki said. "If not, it's fine. Deku and I can always figure something out. Right, man?"
He nudged Izuku's shoulder, smiling deviously at him. Izuku smiled back, nodding triumphantly. "Hell yeah."
