After that predicament years ago...I waited a long time before carrying out my plan. Well, I am still waiting. I do not know when would be a good time to do any of the things I had planned to do years ago. Life continued as planned...as Alfred predicted for us. Francis was 'cured' with a contraption I had created. Then we started dating and eventually decided to get married. Then...the big decision...
The decision to have children...and we both agreed it is best to continue with the decision. We constantly promised each other that we would be different but were scared of the end outcome of it all. What would that mean if we changed? What would happen to us?
We continued to drag things on without a decision...
What else was there left to do?
Everything worked according to plan in the past. The gadget I made stunned the two of them so much that they fainted. The shock destroyed their on-hand and any other electrical devices they had on them. That means, of course, that Francis and I took them back to their time period. I was unsure exactly where to take them, so we took them to the police station and told them they were both unconscious when we found them.
I kept getting people who stopped and asked why I looked so familiar, but I was not entirely sure. The success of my time travel was kept a secret. However, the device will be ready for anyone now that I have perfected it. Of course, if they had the money. It was not open to the public for purchasing but only to historians and anyone dealing with the study of the past. That goes for archeologists or paleontologists. That was not scheduled until next year, so everyone will find it amazing.
I have taken a break from work and mostly stay home with the boys.
They were only ten now, and we had to home-school them because they were tired of hearing the "how does it feel knowing your dad is famous" question. I wasn't famous at all. Not everyone knew about me. I had come up with a few inventions here and there and was known in the science community, but I was not rebound worldwide or anything. The kids who bugged them were mostly science fanatics who always wanted to come over and play with my things. I had to tell them multiple times not to go in or let anyone into the room I kept my stuff. I was worried they would accidentally hurt themselves.
Now, I just tutor them, but I leave the option to return to school on the table. I think that if I smother them enough with love, they will want to go. Which I really hope is soon.
At the moment, I was enjoying the new day. Avoiding my problems was the best remedy for procrastination and feeling at ease.
!CRASH!
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaad!"
My eyes widened, and my parental instincts kicked in. I jumped from my seat and began running to the source. "BOYS?!" I shouted. I ran down the hall and noticed the room for my things was open, and there was definitely movement coming from the inside. I ran to the door, throwing it open, and saw Alfred and the floor, hurt. Something had fallen from the top shelf. Matthew was standing over him nervously, and I did not know what to say.
"What happened? What are you doing in here?" I asked, shocked. "Please! I know you told us not to come here, but I was curious! It was my fault! Don't blame Alfred! I had told him to go up there and get something," Matthew sputtered. I looked down at Alfred, shocked, and saw the device that made me shiver.
It was my original time travel prototype.
"I am sorry! I did not mean to touch anything; It was not his fault! I was suggesting I go up there and get it!" Alfred added. I gulped and walked over to the device, picking it up. I then looked over to Alfred and saw he was holding his ankle. "Are you badly hurt?" I asked. The two of them looked shocked at how calm I was.
"You aren't mad? You told us not to come in here, and we did anyway," Matthew spoke. Memories of what Alfred had done to us in the past flooded my mind. I reached for Alfred's ankle and began to inspect it. "No...I am not angry...you boys were curious; it isn't a big deal. Although, if you had asked, I wouldn't have minded giving in," I laughed. I stood up and held Alfred to his feet. He was crying, so I wiped some of his tears. I fixed his hair slowly and found myself smiling at him.
"It is never wrong to be curious, I just didn't want the two of you getting hurt, but I see I failed," I laughed. They looked at me, shocked, and soon both began crying. I laughed at their distress, and they hugged me tightly, saying sorry. I wish Francis were here to see this. "It's okay..." I laughed.
However, as they cried into my arms, I had the strangest idea.
"You know, one day, the two of you will be using stuff like this...for the good of the family!" I cheered. They looked at me, shocked and confused. "Really? how?" Alfred asked. I smiled at them again and began to pat the top of their heads. "Well, the two of you are going to be acting...acting so well that you will be the reason your parents meet each other!" I smiled.
"What?! Really? CAN I BE THE VILLAIN?" Alfred asked. I looked at him, confused. "What? You don't want to be the hero? like usual?" Matthew asked. Alfred shook his head and smiled at his brother. "No! I think you should be that character for once! We can fight each other! And be rivals!" he laughed. I looked at him, confused, as he began to plan everything in his head. "What? You want to fight Matthew?" I asked.
"Yes! He will be the good-goody brother who looks down on me! But I will come for revenge! MUAHAHAHA!"
"Shut up!" Matthew laughed, shoving Alfred away.
This situation...made me wonder if that is what happened this whole time. If that is why Alfred and Matthew joined forces back then, why he didn't attack him when Francis and I escaped and why Matthew might have been shocked when we jumped off the cliff....maybe there was more to it than we were told....but now, there was no way to find out. Not really, at least....I guess all life has its mysteries.
