3rd POV:
Lo'ak swiftly moves through the trees of the forest, his heartbeat picking up speed as the yelling behind him gets louder.
"Get back here, Freak!" Eza, the head of the group yells at him.
Ever since Lo'ak could remember, Eza and his gang of friends have had it out for him. But it wasn't like Lo'ak could blame them, after all, he was nothing but a freak outcast.
If it wasn't for who Lo'ak's parents were he probably would have been shunned for his differences.
Years ago, before he was born, his mother, Neytiri, the daughter of the late Omaticaya Clan leader, Eytukan, had taken in a sky person--also known as a human, named Jake Sully.
Jake Sully, Lo'ak's father, was a paralyzed former Marine who had linked his mind to what the sky people called an Avatar.
Because the planet's environment is poisonous to humans, the sky people developed a human/Na'vi hybrid, the Avatar, and linked their human minds to the Avatar to allow for free movement on Pandora.
While on a mission Jake had been found by Lo'ak's mother and fell in love. They became mates and soon after a war began between the sky people and the Na'vi people.
Jake helped lead the Na'vi people to victory, and as a reward, the Na'vi people, with the help of Eywa, the great mother of Pandora, transferred Jake's mind and soul to his Avatar's body permanently.
Lo'ak's brother, Neteyam, was born months after the war ended. He was perfect in his parent's eyes, with 4 fingers, and bright large golden irises, the fact that his father wasn't born a Na'vi having no effect on the baby.
However, that wasn't the case for Lo'ak. Much like his father he had 5 fingers like the sky people, though that wasn't the overall difference that made him feel like an outcast. Instead of the golden irises, all forest Na'vi people had, one iris was blue while the other was gold.
His parents believed it was part of the genetics his father had as a human like the fingers, while some, like his grandmother, Mo'at, believed he got it from his Metkayina ancestors, the water tribe.
But most of the Clan didn't believe either theory. They thought it was a curse, he was a curse. Why would Neteyam be born a perfect Na'vi while he was born a freak?
He tried to make up for his differences by showing his tribe members he was no different than they were. That he was strong and could protect the clan from any harm that was to come.
Expect it seemed that no matter how hard he tried, it always ended up in him being a disappointment. He wasn't the perfect little soldier like his brother nor was he strong enough to defend himself from harm's way.
He is and will always be an outcast.
