The Dusk

Katy continued to run away in her fox form until she stops at the lake. She pants softly, before looking behind her to the sound of wing beats as Eli landed on the ground a couple of feet away from her.

"Katy... ," he starts hesitantly as she growled at him.
She paused; however, and turned to face him. In that moment, she transforms back, wearing a black dress with leggings.

"You called me Katy... ," she crosses her arms, looking up at him.
He nods at this," Yes...I've had some time to process my current feelings as well as how you might feel," he takes a couple steps closer to her until he could place his right hand on her left cheek. He gazes into her azure eyes with his sunset eyes, before speaking again.

"Kali told you a truth about me. I was being greedy and selfish just because you're the reincarnation of my late wife, Cathleen; that doesn't make her, you. Nor does it allow me to put a claim on you as my wife....," he looks somber, as if this conversation was the one hurting him. "I left because.... I realized you love Kali, not me....I felt that you didn't need me around anymore," he looks away from her gaze then.

She grits her teeth as she gently grabs his right wrist with her left hand," You're an idiot, you know that?"

His sunset eyes widen in surprise at her gentle aggression, that he looks back at her.

"I can't deny my feelings for Kali...however; that doesn't mean I don't want you in my life too, Eli. You're supposed to stay by side, make sure I'm not alone.... But look what you did, you left me alone.... Probably when I needed you the most... ," her white fox ears go down sadly as she wears a sad smile.

Eli frowns and pulls her into a hug," I'm so sorry Katherine.... You were hurting... and once again, being selfish, that the demon I am, left you once more....," he had started to cry at his own realization.

Katy hugs him back, letting him know she missed him," I tried to summon you.... But I was too weak to pull it off... ," she says quietly.

He looks down to her and slowly lets go," I thought I felt your presence earlier.... I'm sorry I didn't come... ," he looks away in guilt.

She looks up at him, a little surprised," So that means it was working... ," That's when she looks past his head to see Kenzo in a tree above them. She smiles softly," Kenzo? Did my father send you?" She calls to him.

Kenzo chirps happily and dive bombs down from the low branch into her chest and arms.

A little alarmed, Eli steps back and eyes the baby gryphon suspiciously," What is THAT doing here? Why does it know you?"

Katy happily pets Kenzo, then looks back to Eli," Well.... That's a bit of a story, but you remember those eggs my father created?"

He nods, continuing to stare at Kenzo as if he was an insect to kill.

"It turns out that my father actually wants to create and clone familiars. He made Kenzo specifically for me. Although.... I'm still mad at him for lying about it," she sighs softly as Kenzo got comfortable in her arms.

"He did, did he?" Eli frowns," Katherine... Did he tell you why?" He asks her cautiously.

Katy tilts her head and looks at him," Actually I'm not sure if he did... wait, don't tell me you're.... Scared of Kenzo?" She smirks and while holding him, takes a step towards him.

Eli fans out his wings and takes a step back," I-I am not afraid of a gryphon! I'm a demon, there's no way, Me, Eli is afraid of a sharp beak, tough talons, and razor blade like claws that can kill demons, is afraid of-Ah!" He flies up as Kenzo's feathered tail-tip brushed Eli's arm.
