Defending Luke

Coming out the bookstore I see and crowd at doose's and push my way through the crowd until I'm standing next to Rory and Dean, I smile at both of them. (Dean is a great boyfriend to Rory I am friends with him before Rory ever got with him so I know he is trustworthy.) I asks what's going on until I turn my eyes to see a chalk outline and police tape. I look across where Taylor is standing a he is furious shouting at the police women, I supress my laugh and spot Keira I mouth ' DID YOU DO THIS' she shakes her head at me confused as she thought I did it, I look around and see Jess leaning on a lamp post. He smirks at me and waves a little, I do it back and walk over

"I hate people that steals my ideas."

"Don't know what you're talking about."

"Jess, you can't steal my ideas." I whine at him, he just laughs and we head to work together.

Mia is in town so we head to the town meeting. Everyone starts ganging up on Luke about Jess. Luke has been a father figure to me since I can remember. I hate that people are disrespecting him and it makes me furious.

"ENOUGH" I yell everyone goes silent as they look at me " Luke has lived in this town his entire life, longer than anyone here, he helps people and ask for nothing back from anyone, Luke practically raised me next to my mum and sister, I love him and the fact the you are all here ganging up on him is disrespectful and you should all be a shamed of yourself."

Mum pipes in to help " y/n is right Give him time to deal with Jess situation before deciding to kick him out." I follow after so no one can speak

"I don't more shit in this town then Jess has, I can make a list if you want and just to clarify to people who to blame I am the one that pulled that prank last night outside doose's, Jess had nothing to do with it. So if you wanna kick out Jess than you have to kick me out too." I storm out the meeting, I went to doose's steal some vodka and went to the lake for a smoke.

The next day I'm sitting at the gazebo enjoying my book before my shift, I look up to see Jess and Rory talking, something in my stomach goes funny, I shake it off. I keep staring until I see dean has joined SHIT I think to myself, I know this is going to be bad and I am not getting involved in that. I head to the diner to start my shift, its busy as the toaster is broken but we managed. Luke comes up next me thanking me for defending him I wave him off but not before he tells me her loves me and hugs me.

Next morning I'm serving mum and Rory coffee and head to the register to cash out for someone, Jess comes up next to me and smiles, then I hear Rory voice yell for some toast but Luke says it will take awhile because the toaster is broke and he has to use the dinky one. Jess turns around pops the toast is the pushes the button down.

"How'd you do that" Luke say as he keeps flicking the button

"You're going break it"

"It was already broken I say and I look between Jess and the toaster, Jess looks at me

"It must have got better,"

"I cross my arms inanimate objects down get better."

Luke cuts in to talk to Jess "Did you fix this?"

"Please."

"Jess!"

"I have no idea what you're babbling on about, I don't fix things."

"but yesterday."

"I got school." I can't stop smiling as he walks to door, he did something nice for his uncle its makes my heart jump out. As he gets to the door Jess turns to Rory and smiles at her, she smiles back and watches him walk out the door. My eyes shift between the too, my throat drops to my stomach as well as my face. Luke slides up beside me

"You like him?"

"Don't know what you're you talking about."

"Yes you do, you my beautiful non-off spring like him."

I look my watch and go to collect my things saying "Oh gosh, would you look at the time, I got school goodbye Lucas. I head out the diner when I hear Luke shout

"You're not even wearing a watch."

"Can't hear you."
