(Narrator's POV)
(Meanwhile in Gravity Falls….)
"Mabel, I know it hurts hearing Dipper say that about you. I know he's right but why throw it in your face like that?" Candy said as she and Soos were trying to comfort Mabel after Dipper snapped at her.
"To be fair, Dipper's got a point, Mabel. Why get mad at him for being right?" Soos said as Mabel gave him a look.
"First off: I'm not mad at him! Second off: Shut up, Soos!!!" She snapped as Candy shook her head as Wendy came in, overhearing the conversation.
"Mabel, I talked to Dipper before he went on his date. Don't let it bother you. You know how he is. Just let him get it out of his system. But still….." Wendy began to say until Mabel looked at her, tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong with me, Wendy? Why does my bro bro hate me so much?" She asked as Wendy sighed and sat down next to her.
"Mabel. You've done a lot of things that have hurt Dipper and caused a lot of misfortune for him. You've also put your own wants over anything else. I'll be honest with you: I understand and get where Dipper's coming from. It's not like he's wrong for what he says. Still….he not only gave Pacifica Northwest, of all people, a second chance: He's DATING her. I don't see why he can't do the same for you. It's almost as if he's willing to put aside all the times she made fun of him but won't put aside all you've put him through." Wendy said with a sigh.
"To be fair, the most Pacifica did was make fun of him. Mabel literally caused Weirdmageddon to happen all because of a selfish wish for an endless summer. I'm just saying: The two aren't exactly the same." Soos said as Candy glared at him.
"But Mabel's still his sister, Soos! If Dipper's willing to forgive Pacifica Northwest, why can't he do the same for his own sister? It doesn't make any sense!!" She snapped.
"You'd have to ask him, Candy. And I doubt he'll tell you much. (Sighs) He's got a girlfriend now and I'm still single. If only I could find that right guy…maybe then my life would turn around…." Mabel said as Wendy put an arm around her.
"You've got to improve yourself first, Mabel. I'll tell it to you straight: No guy will want to put up with you the way you are now when it comes to boys. What guy would want a girl who literally chases the best looking boy she sees until a better looking one comes around? That's likely one of the reasons Dipper is so upset at you. Remember when Bill possessed him?" Wendy said as Mabel tearfully remembered the incident.
"All I'm saying is that you've gotta do some adjusting, Mabel. Maybe then you could find a guy that will like you for your personality. And maybe then you and Dipper will be on better terms." Wendy said as Mabel looked at her and nodded as Dipper then came in, a frustrated look on his face.
"Dipper? What happened? I thought you were on a date with Pacifica?" Candy asked as Dipper put a hand to his temple.
"I was. But I had to take her home to recover after Robbie came and rang a bell just to mess with her!" He snapped as the others gasped in pure shock and disgust. Robbie was a jerk but this was too much, even for him!
"I can't believe he'd do that! Well actually no. I totally believe he'd do that. Is Pacifica OK, bro bro?" Mabel asked as Dipper nodded.
"Yeah. She's getting some rest. I told her I'd call her once she wakes up. But since I'm pretty much free right now, I think I'll….." He began to say until Wendy stops him.
"Dipper. I know you're upset with Mabel but please: Don't do this, OK? I know what she's done and I know what you said earlier is true but she's still….." She began to say….
"My sister who selfishly ruined my chance at an internship just because she wanted to hang out? My sister who let me stay possessed while she chased after a boy who couldn't care less about her? My sister who was the reason Weirdmageddon happened? Oh, you mean my sister who always does a bunch of selfish things like replace me with a clone that does nothing but what she says yet I'M in the wrong how exactly?" Dipper said, cutting Wendy off.
"Dipper, listen….." Candy began to say until Ford came in, a worried look on his face.
"Dipper. Mabel. Come with me. There's something I have to show you." He said as Dipper and Mabel nodded and followed their Grunkle back to the Mystery Shack where he had some of his old research notes out, many of them having the word "AXOLOTL" on them in bold letters.
"Grunkle Ford, what is this? And who or what is AXOLOTL?" Dipper asked as Ford sighed and pulled out the memory eraser he used on Stanley during the fight with Bill Cipher.
"Watch carefully. And try to remain calm." Ford said as he pressed a button and a projection played.
"What's going on? Is that Grunkle Stan's memory?" Mabel asked as Ford nodded.
"Yes. Right when Bill was being erased. Now watch and listen to this." He said as Bill said a bunch of unintelligible gibberish that Dipper nor Mabel could make out.
"What was that? I didn't understand a word of that." Dipper said as Ford nodded.
"That's because Bill said it in a way that sounds backwards to us. Now watch and listen to what he says when I play it backwards." He instructed as Ford played the words backwards.
"AXOLOTL my time has come to burn, I invoke the ancient power that I may return!"
"What?!? Ancient Power that he may return?!?" Mabel exclaimed as Dipper looked terrified, memories of what Bill put him through were playing in his mind.
"I have reason to believe this Ancient Power is AXOLOTL, even more so after some research: AXOLOTL is the Aztec God of Fire and Lightning. Which means Bill likely called upon the power of a deity to preserve himself. However, there's been no sign of him. Things have been peaceful. So for the time being, I believe we're in a holding pattern. But if Bill is indeed back, you two need to work together. Which means putting aside any arguments or disagreements. We beat Bill back before as a team and we can do it again." Ford said as Dipper looked at his Grunkle.
"So…you know about….." He began to say.
"I overheard. And let me say this, Dipper: I understand and agree that you unfairly took too much grief for Mabel's actions and the way she was towards you was not right. But at the end of the day, as much as she has hurt you, I do believe she loves you. That was her whole idea: She wanted to spend time with you." Ford said as Dipper looked at Mabel.
"Mabel…….I'm…." Dipper began to say until Mabel hugged him and kissed his cheek.
"I forgive you. And I love you too, bro bro." She said as Dipper smiled and hugged her back just as Stan came in.
"Aww. Now that's what I like to see: You two getting along. Anyway, look alive: We got some newcomers that have just pulled in." He said.
"Oooh! Let's go say Hi, Dipper!" Mabel said as Ford nodded.
"You two go. I'll see if I can do a bit more digging into what we talked about." He said as Dipper and Mabel went out to greet the newcomers.
"Bill…you aren't going to have it so easily this time." Ford said as he continued his work.
Take a guess who the newcomers are! And yeah: While I personally don't care for Mabel myself, I think it's obvious she loves her brother, even if she's horrible at showing it. Anyway, see ya next chapter!
