"You are here, moving in our midst, I worship you, I worship you." I sang along with my parents the song Way Maker by Sinach.
I love this song ...
One of my favourite gospel songs ever...
to be honest."You are here, working in this place, I worship you, I worship you." my mom and I sang even louder, causing my dad to laugh.
"Way Maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, my God that is who you are. You are here touching every heart, I worship you.""You are here healing every heart, I worship you." my dad yelled at the top of his lungs.
"You wipe away all tears, you mend the broken heart, you are the answer to it all Jesus. Way maker, miracle worker promise keeper, light in the darkness. My God that is who you are." We ended the song.
Singing gospel songs with my parents is just the best part of my day. I glanced out of the window at the clear blue sky. It's January the beginning of the year and the start of a brand new life at McGill university.
Yes, that's right...
I got accepted to study psychology at McGill University in Montreal. I was super excited when I found out I got accepted. I was born in Toronto so I was more than happy to study outside of Toronto.I also got accepted to a school in London that I casually applied to, just because I love the idea of studying in the UK but my dad didn't want me to go study miles away from him.
Yep, I'm a daddy's girl.
I love my dad to bits. He's the best, so, of course, I had to listen to him, that's why I only applied to Schools in Canada.McGill is an amazing university with great programs, It's prestigious and world-renowned. It's ranked 3rd in Canada and what's even more astonishing is that Canada's first female professor was appointed at McGill.
"Annelisa!!" My mom snapped her fingers in front of my face to get my attention. I turned to stare at her.
"Yes, sorry I got a little distracted," I explained.
"Well, your dad was asking, what are your goals for your first year in university?" My mom questioned.
"That's a secret between God and me," I replied with a smile.
"I hope you won't change pumpkin." my dad stated staring at the road ahead of him. I waited for him to elaborate so I could reply.
"I don't want you to get swayed by the guys in university."I stayed quiet, not knowing what to say.
"I don't want to hear that you've been sleeping around, you know that's not how we raised you and you know full well, that's not the way a good Christian young girl should behave." He concluded his lecture.
My Mom sighed. "Micheal, you know our daughter isn't like that." She intervened.
"Dad, I remember everything you've taught me and I know how a Christian woman should behave and I promise I won't let you down," I assured him.
"I know you won't." He turned to look at me with a smile on his face.
He raised the volume from his gospel playlist on the radio. I moved my head to the music while replaying his words in my head. Or and or again.
