Mom's phone rang and she asked me to wait a moment as she stepped out.

I let out a sigh and turned to dad. I took his hand and wiped a tear.

"Dad, wake up. Hun is scaring me. Mom doesn't realize who he is, but he's so weird. I don't like him. I feel unsafe with him. Wake up so everything can go back to normal. If you're out of the hospital, he has no reason to be in our lives!"

His eyes twitched and I could see them start to open when the door opened and my mom walked in.
