Take A Break

The sound of yelling and a fist being slammed against a desk echoed through the empty house.

The couple had closed on the property a few weeks ago, but had yet to put aside time to furnish it.

Even though they both blamed it on their busy schedules, it was really Aiden who forbade them from purchasing anything without his approval.

The house itself was modern and spacey, but not overwhelmingly big.
And for the first time in her life, Maia had her own office, that of which she was working in now.

As the new coowner of a youth basketball program, it was Maias job to find drills that her and Daniella would want to run at the first week of their trainings and practices.

Though, this required a lot of research and concentration, all of which were hard to accomplish with a 30 year old streamer down the hall.

Through trial and error, Maia had learned the best way to communicate between the two of them was just having patience.

So she waited for her fiancé to stop by her office as Hasan always did during the many "bathroom breaks" he took throughout his streams.

"You doing okay?" He asked, coming over to drape his arms over the back of her chair.

"Im almost done," Maia sighed, feeling his hands rubbing up and down her arms, "I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of hard to concentrate with all the...noise."

"Oh my bad," Hasan said, "I forget we're living together sometimes."

"Yeah, I can tell," Maia mumbled, grabbing one of his hands to fiddle with his rings, one of which being the metal engagement ring she spent forever picking out.

Through a lot of reassurance and testing of his handyman skills, Hasan had finally won over the approval of Maias dad to ask for her hand in marriage.

It was a no brainer for Hasan, and he would've done it sooner if Aiden hadn't made him plan every detail out.

Nevertheless, Hasan popped the question on the 2 year anniversary of the day he almost lost her forever. It was a decision that forever changed the lives of the two of them.

"I'm about to wrap it up anyways," Hasan said. "A man can only take so much Elon Musk for one day."

Maia laughed, standing up to land a kiss on his cheek.

"Plus," he said, pulling her closer, "I've got some ideas for something a little more fun after..."

"Stoppp," Maia pleaded as she sat back down in her office chair, trying to calm the sudden butterflies in her stomach.

Hasan laughed, retreating back down the hall to close out his stream.

For her, saying yes to marriage was also a no-brainer. Hasan was everything she could've asked for and more.

Maia was lucky to have him, even if Aiden swore Hasan was luckier.

The craziest thing to believe is how it all started.
