Chapter 20: Kitty!

Today I woke up bright and early! First to start the day I made my favorite breakfast for us to share. It was blueberry pancakes, sunny side eggs, and some orange juice. After that I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair; now I was ready to check up on Bruce.

"Bruce." I said in a sweet tone to make him feel in a good mood to start the day.

     "Hmmmm..." He was still asleep.

I felt ever so slightly bad for waking him this early in the morning, but I just wanted to make him feel happy since he seemed so down once, he came back from work. Instead of trying to wake him up I decided to eat by myself.

Starting off my day with a low note was never good so I invited Sel over to eat with me. She said she was busy, but she'll come see me later. I was a little bit sad having to eat by myself, but I was excited to see Sel since it has been so long.

Once I was done, I put on my favorite outfit then I messaged Sel to see where she wanted to meet up at. She texted me back momentarily saying "1364 West Boulevard ave, Gotham, NJ"; I clicked on the link anticipating something scary, but it was surprisingly cute! It was a Cat Cafe! I couldn't believe she would choose something like this since she seemed to be into more bruiting stuff.

I changed my outfit to fit the aesthetic of the cafe. I wore a light brown skirt, a white collared shirt, a caramel-colored ascot, some white knee highs, and a pair of shoes I thought looked nice with it.

Since the place wasn't too far, I just decided to walk. Once I got there I stood outside for a few minutes until Sel texted me she was inside and waiting. I felt like a doofus for just standing outside and never looking into the cafe.

Upon entering I saw Sel playing with a Persian Cat, it had fluffy light grey hair with black on the tip of its nose. I immediately pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of them playing; it was adorable!

She looked up at me almost instantly with a feral look in her eyes. "Hey!" I said in a cheerful voice waving dramatically. Hoping she wouldn't be upset about the picture I took.

Instead Sel stood up dusting the cat fur off her pants, which stuck like glue. She gave me a cute smile with bright eyes shining through me. I never realized how beautiful she was until she smiled at me like that. I felt a weight lifted off my chest because it made me feel as if I had made a wonderful best friend.

"Y/n..." she started off to get my attention, "I've only been here a handful of times and since you just ate, I would recommend their tea, it is lightweight, and I feel it is just sweet enough for you. Also, Happy Halloween."

I almost couldn't believe I forgot today was Thursday, October 31st aka Halloween. I must've been so stressed out from Bruce being injured and just wanting to sleep. "Happy Halloween Sel! I will gladly get that tea but only if you let me pay for your drink as well." I said trying to put on my best non worried expression.

"Sure, but just to let you know I tend to not have mercy when someone is paying for me." Sel said with a sinister playful voice making me believe she was joking.

Boy, was I wrong she had gotten a large cinnamon milk latte, which had somehow costed 12 dollars. It made me smile knowing we were this close she was willing to spend my money without any regret.

We played with the cats as we drank our drinks. Sel loved all the cats, and they all loved her as much meanwhile all the cats were harassing me. I don't know why, maybe she was a cat whisperer. We hung out for about 2 hours; she really didn't want to leave; but I still enjoyed our moment together.

Unfortunately, she got a call that one of the girls that worked at the club called in sick, so she had to fill in for her. As she was going on her motorcycle Sel told me that was the first time she had fun with someone besides Annika (her roommate/best friend). It warmed my heart gratefully.

I went back home ready to question Bruce, but he was nowhere to be found. I sighed wishing we could've carved pumpkins. I wanted to tell him he should stop fighting other people so much because it was making me worry. I didn't want to say it because it's not my life so I shouldn't be dictating his.

Bruce/Batman POV:

I watched over Gotham like always getting tired of witnessing crimes but sadly I couldn't do anything about it since the sun hadn't set yet. I stuck in my headphones to kill time while I waited for night. I put on my favorite music artists like Nirvana, Green Day, REM, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I fell asleep on the building that held the Bat Signal. I couldn't believe how tired I was since yesterday. Fighting criminals isn't easy especially having to balance out being Bruce Wayne. I wanted to tell y/n plenty of times that I'm Batman, but I just don't know how she'll react and that scares me.

Looking down I noticed a group of scary looking guys; supposedly gang members; meeting in a subway station. Taking some time, I went down inconspicuously following them. Going into the subway station I saw one other person on their cart, it was a frail looking man obviously intimidated by the guys.

He got off at the next station while the gang members followed him. All I knew is that I had to save this guy. A loud thump echoed as I got off the train it was his head smacking the brick wall. I couldn't stand people bullying the weak, so I beat the shit out of those gang members, sparing one.

I helped the frail guy up, but he pleaded for me not to hurt him, so I just walked off. Ready to find my next person to save or crime to be stopped.

Thanks for all the supportive comments I've been getting. The next chapter is going to almost completely be in Batman's POV. I'm now trying to intertwine my story more with the movie. Thanks for reading and have a lovely rest of your day/night.
