Two Months Later
It's been two months since my parents were brutally murdered. Two months since my world came crashing down. Two months since I felt any emotions. I've been so numb since that day. After meeting uncle Darius in the hospital, he took care of everything for us. The funeral, moving our things from Texas to New York, sent our transcripts to our new school....I'm still trying to understand why my father and uncle Darius never kept in contact after all these years.
I was in my new room, staring up at the ceiling. Uncle Darius' house is INSANE! I don't know whether to call it a mansion or a mini castle. I found out the he is a District Attorney for his job and his wife is a very well known designer in Manchester. Supposedly she's collaborated with high end fashion brands like Dior, Celine, and Dolce & Gabbana. Their daughter, Cadence, is a model who spends her time in Paris during the summer doing gigs. She's the same age as Drea and I and from the pictures that are plastered on the walls, I see why she's a model.
I still don't understand why the hell they decided to get a big ass house when it's only the three of them in the house. But that's none of my business.
Knock
Knock
I sat up and looked to see my sisters head pop into my room.
"You wanna go for a swim?" She asks.
I shrug. We haven't really done much since we got to New York. Uncle Darius and his wife, Marsha, are rarely ever home. Uncle Darius basically lives in his office and his wife has been traveling alot. Cadence is in Paris, so it's basically me, Drea and the house keepers in the house.
I jumped up from the bed and walked towards the door where Drea was. The both of us walked out of the house to the giant backyard with a gigantic pool that was glistening in the sun. The both of us sat on the edge of the pool and placed out feet in the water.
"You know, since we got here I've been having the same dream over and over again." I say.
"The one about the guy with the gold eyes?" Drea asks.
I nod.
"Hmm...I wonder what that means." She says.
For about two months now I've been having dreams of this guy with amber eyes. I couldn't really see his features in my dreams but whenever he was in them, I would always see those amber eyes.
As we sat there talking, we heard giggling coming from more than one person. We turned our heads and noticed three young women walking towards us. I recognized one of them; it was Cadence, the cousin. Next to her was a short Hispanic looking girl with long jet black hair, dark brown eyes, dimples and a cute little figure. On the other side of Cadence was a ginger. Her fiery red hair was bouncing with every step she took, her pale skin glistened in the sun like there were little droplets of diamonds in her skin and she was pretty tall but not as tall as Cadence. As Cadence got closer, I was able to catch more of her features. She for sure looked like her mother, Marsha, but the mixed version. She has a pretty light complexion, long curly brown hair, and had that model walk.
When she finally saw Drea and I, I could see a smile on her face. When they finally got to us, I couldn't help but feel a little self conscious; these girls were drop dead gorgeous.
"Hey Cousins! It's finally nice to meet the both of you!" Cadence squealed.
I bit my inner cheek to stop myself from cringing. I know for a fact Cadence would NOT be able to live in the hood. I awkwardly smiled at her.
"I'm Cadence, but you can call me Cadee. You must be Dalia and Drea?" She asks.
My sister and I nod.
"Oh my God I'm soooo sorry for what happened to your parents." The ginger says.
I look at her and clench my jaw. Cadence elbowed her softly then clears her throat.
"I'm sorry for not being here sooner. The both of you must've been really bored in the house...I had some modeling gigs in Paris but I'm back and ready to show the both of you my city." She said with a smile.
"There's actually a back to school party happening tonight, would you be down?" The short Latina asked.
Parties aren't really my thing. Back home it was always Drea going out and I always stayed home. I'm a major homebody if you haven't notice yet.
"So down!" Drea practically screamed.
They looked at me when they didn't hear me say anything.
"Parties aren't really my forté". I say.
"Oh c'mon! You haven't gotten the proper Westchester welcome if you haven't gone to one party!" Ginger says.
I look at Drea who is now looking at me with pleading eyes. I sigh then roll my eyes.
"Fine." I mumble.
"YAY!" They all squeal.
I look at Drea in disbelief....she's already fitting in with them.
This was going to be a long night.
