The gathering went by in a flash. Before everyone could leave, I had to talk to that one elder...Rayneira Thompson.
I was going through crowds of people just to finally get to her. She was talking to her husband but turned her attention to me when I finally got to her. She gave me a smile and took my hands in hers.
"I knew you were Damian's child the second I laid my eyes on you. You look just like your mother but I can sense your fathers stubbornness and pride within you. Tashauna was a beautiful woman." She said.
I swallowed back the tears that were forcing their way out. She knew my parents.
"I have so many questions...no one is telling me anything." I said.
She looked behind her and her husband nodded.
"Come, I will answer all the questions you have my dear." She said.
I followed behind her. We walked out to the backyard and sat at a table, across from each other.
"I'm assuming you want to know about your powers?" She asked.
Powers?
"By powers, I'm assuming the feeling I get before someone dies." I tell her.
"Ah, the ability to determine one's passing. Hmm, that's interesting." She said and brought a finger to her chin.
"I was able to predict my parents death. I didn't know it was going to be them, but I knew something terrible was going to happen. I was eight when I discovered this ability. When my mother's father was going to pass away, I had a terrible gut feeling days before his death." I continued.
"Sometimes the moon goddess blesses certain wolves with abilities. I'm assuming since you and your sister are half human and cannot shift into your true forms, the moon goddess has given you a different ability." She said.
I stared at her blankly.
"Moon Goddes? Wolves? Shift? With all due respect, what the heck are you talking about?" I asked her.
That only caused her to chuckle.
"You are just like your father." She said with a smile but then frowned.
"I sincerely apologize for your loss. We are still tracking down who could've done such heinous actions." She said.
I looked down at my hands that were on the table. She reached for my hands and took them into hers.
"Listen child, let me tell you the history of your people. The history of our people." She said. I noticed that her hazel eyes started to turn a goldish color.
I gasped and quickly took my hands out from hers.
"H-how?" I stuttered.
"I am not lying when I tell you about our people being Were-people. There are other tribes out there likes ours but we are more different. Other tribes do not accept mingling with other supernaturals. We are accepting but not of vampires. A couple of years ago, we accepted mingling with humans due to your father. He was supposed to be our alpha but instead of being Alpha, he chose to run away and marry a human and change his lastname. His real last name is not Reynolds. It is Thompson." She said.
I was processing everything she was saying. It was all so confusing to me still but if it weren't for her changing her eye color, I don't think I'd believe anything she said.
"So I'm basically related to Dominic since I'm related to you?" I ask.
"Well technically, yes, in a sense. My sister, Yvonnette, rest her soul, was also an elder here. She was your father and uncle's mother. My son Kyle, the alpha, is their cousin. I'm assuming Dominic would be your second cousin? Cadence is your first cousin since she is related to your uncle." She said.
