The Single Single Bed

<->(written February of 23) Lando Norris and Max Fewtrell, no smut, they share a single bed because neither will let the other sleep on the floor (even though they've both slept on the floor countless times)

~^~

They had both stopped in the little hallway leading from the door to the hotel room.

Well... Max had stopped, and Lando had had to stop because Max was blocking him from going further.

"Why're you just standing there?" Lando asks from behind Max, not being able to, or trying to, see around the other.

"What kind of hotel room has only one single bed?" Max asks, still not moving.

"What?" Lando asks, finally looking over Max's shoulder, into the room.

Max glances over his shoulder at Lando who laughs lightly.

"Weird." Lando says, lightly pushing at Max's back to tell the other to move.

Max moves out of the way, over exaggerating the push a bit for emphasis.

Lando just rolls his eyes, setting his suitcase, literally in the middle of the floor.

"I'll take the floor." Lando says, kicking off his shoes in the general direction of the tv stand.

"No, mate. You're the one who has to do stuff tomorrow. You're taking the bed." Max counters, placing his suitcase neatly against the wall. Honestly, they could just share a suitcase given how many clothes they share, half of them don't even have a real 'this persons' or 'that persons' anymore.

"You also have to do stuff tomorrow." Lando says, placing his hands on his hips sassily.

"Yeah, but you have to do more. I just have to be there." Max says.

"I'm taking the floor cause it's the nice thing to do." Lando says.

"No, I'm taking the floor cause it's the nice thing for me to do for you." Max says, mirroring Lando's stance.

"No chance, mate. You're sleeping in the bed, I'm sleeping on the floor." Lando says with finality.

Max disregards that finality. "Then let's just share the bed." He says it half as a joke to emphasize the ridiculousness of their little argument, but really, them sharing that small bed wouldn't be too different than how they share double beds.

Lando looks at him for a second, probably trying to sus out if it's fully a joke or not.

"Both of us refuse to have the other sleep on the floor, why don't we just both sleep in the bed?" Max continues his line of thought.

Lando shrugs. "Yeah, okay." He says, smiling.

A few hours later, after they've eaten, a very late, dinner, and watched a few episodes of some true crime show that was on when they'd turned on the tv, they turn in for the night.

Max was laying on his side, half asleep, scrolling through one of the social medias, his back against the wall behind him, as Lando threw the towel, he'd been using to dry his hair aside.

Lando turns off the tv and the lights on his way to the small bed.

Max sets his phone on the bedside table as Lando sits on the edge of the bed, taking his socks off. (I can't stand the feeling of wearing socks while I sleep, it's a sensory thing)

Lando lays down on his back, shoulder against Max's chest, crossing his arms across his chest as he looks up at the other.

Max is propped slightly, elbow against the pillow and head rested against his hand.

"Night, Max." Lando says with a goofy smile on his face.

"Night, mate." Max says with a light chuckle, scooting down slightly and maneuvering his arm so that Lando was using it as a pillow; something he'd leaned about the other was that he disliked actually using proper pillows, always opting for some makeshift pillow, or no pillow at all.

Lando turns on his side, facing Max's chest, pulling the covers up over them while Max finishes situating himself.
