CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

"That's too high you fat pig!"

Looking over, I see Saionji harassing Mikan...again. I sigh as I continue to set out decorations. Ms. Yukisome wants us to be a class of hope, and what better way to be hopeful than to celebrate Christmas? Today, we would spend half of the school day learning, the other half decorating, then after school we'd party. Everyone was pitching in, Mioda was practiced Christmas music, Hanamura was making a Christmas feast, and Koizumi had set up a place to take pictures. Ms. Yukisome also wanted us to do a gift exchange, Secret Santa style. I had gotten Komaeda for my secret Santa. I had to choose wisely for the Ultimate Lucky Student. I had gotten him some a scarf, a Go set, and a coupon for a manicure at a really good nail salon.

While putting some fake snow, which I'm not sure was environmentally friendly, on the windowsill, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Soda."Y/N, you're handling the plant based decorations, right? Could you do me a solid and bring in some mistletoe? Please? Ms.Sonia and I haven't really been connecting and maybe a kiss could be our spark!" He requested with eagerness and a tad of desperation.

"I don't know, Soda. I'd have to ask Ms. Yukisome. I really don't think it's appropriate for a high school to hang mistlet-"

"Mistletoe? Let's do it! Nothing brings in hope like a passionate gesture!" Boomed Ms. Yukisome, who had just appeared out of no where.

Soda walked off with an excited smile, but I was left more concerned. "Ms. Yukisome, are you sure? I don't really think Sonia is interested with Soda romantically."

She gave me a reassuring smile, "Don't  worry, I plan for it to be only used twice." With that she continued setting up other decorations. I just shrugged and started my way for the greenhouse. On my way there, I heard a faint scurrying sound behind me. I turned to see Maga-G following me. I bent down and picked him up curiously.

"Does Tanaka know your here?" Just after that, a frantic, out of breath Tanaka cam flying down to where I was. "I take that as a no."

"Maga-Z! Why did you run off like that? We're you under the spell of a high level demon?!" Then he realized I was there and he regained his composure.  "Greetings, mortal. I see you have rescued one of my Dark Devas of Destruction. I must thank you for this kindness."

"Oh, no problem! Hey, was heading up to the greenhouse to grab a few more decorations, do you want to come with me?" 

"Hmm... I suppose I could accompany you on your quest. Alright, I'll join you!"He replied. We made it all the way up to greenhouse and picked up a few more Christmas plants. I also managed to pick up some mistletoe. We headed back to the classroom without any incidents. We finished adding the extra greenery and even added a small Christmas tree. Almost everyone had left to get ready for the party. I decided now would be the best time to place the mistletoe.

"Ms.Yukisome, where would you, like me to hang this?" She pointed towards a shelf at the back of the class. It was pretty high up so I couldn't reach. After failing a few times, I felt a presence come near me. All of a sudden, a bandaged hand took the mistletoe from my hand and placed it for me. "Oh, thanks Tanaka." I smiled brightly.

"It was the least I could do for you after you caught Jum-P." We stood there for a few seconds before I realized we were under the mistletoe. I could feel my face heating up, but I quickly calmed down. I mean it's only awkward if he notices too. Out of sheer misfortune, he looked up and remembered the mistletoe. "It appears we are standing under the infamous mistletoe." I just  hum in response. "Isn't it said that if two beings are found beneath the mistletoe, they must share a kiss?" I feel my face heat up, but I still just nod I'm response. While I tried to think of what I could say, he gently grabbed my hand and kissed it. "I understand you are not comfortable with such an action, but I guess we can honor the tradition this way." I just stood there awestruck as he left the room. I was able to snap myself back into reality. I had to get ready for the party anyway.

I decided not to be super flashy so I just wore a Christmas sweater, jeans, winter boots, a thick belt, and, to make things a little more festive, some Christmas lights as a necklace. I arrived with my gift and set it on my desk. Nanami brought in a few games for us to play which set off a bit of a competitive spirit. Even Saionji was being nicer to Mikan. It was a Christmas miracle. I noticed that Soda kept trying to get poor Sonia under the mistletoe but failed miserably each time. Then came time for the gift exchange. I gave Komaeda my gift and he started crying saying how he was so grateful and went on a long monologue about how great I was. It was kind of flattering, but still kinda awkward. I went back to my seat and then a long box was placed in front of me. I was then face to face with Sonia.

"You're always so hard working and kind so wanted to get you something to reflect your best characteristics. I hope you like it even though it's not as extravagant as you would expect for a princess." She beamed.

"I'm sure I'll love it no matter the size." I smile. I began to remove the wrapping. Inside, was a few new gardening tools, a broach of a silhouette of a willow tree, and a coupon to am eco friendly spa. Well, Sonia told me it was a coupon, but the paper itself said it was an all expense free pass. Well, you've got to appreciate the modesty.

The party was going great until Soda and Hanamura got into a fight about the mistletoe which resulted with them chasing each other around the classroom. Eventually, they went out into the hallway. I remembered earlier with Tanaka and my face started to heat up again.

"Y/N, what's up girl? You digging the party or- are you ok? Why is your face so red?" Mioda had startled me. There's no way I could tell her about what had happened!

"Just... a sick from the eggnog, I'll get over it." She decided to stay by me for the rest of the night. I looked over to Ms. Yukisome who was still smiling as ever. I "Hey, Ms.Yukisome, what do you think of the party? Pretty great, right?" We began to chat a bit. Then I remembered what she'd said about the mistletoe. Something about  intending for it to be used twice. As if on cue, Soda and Hanamura were back in the room still tussling about the mistletoe, but they didn't realize they were under it!

Ms. Yukisome then yelled, "Oh look! You two are under the mistletoe! You guys know what's supposed to happen next right?" Soda started objecting, but Ms. Yukisome reminded him he was the reason it was hung up. Hanamura, on the other hand, didn't really mind and was ready to pucker up. This lead to another chase with Soda running away screaming while Hanamura tried to redeem his kiss. The rest of the class was bursting with laughter.

It was very late and the party came to an end. While cleaning up, I saw Ms. Yukisome take the mistletoe with her. I didn't think anything of it and kept cleaning. On my walk home, I walked by a nearby construction site. I saw two figures face to face in the distance, illuminated by the moonlight. I the  recognized one as Ms.Yukisome! The other guy I didn't know, but he had white hair and suit. I was far enough to see who they were but I couldn't hear them talking. Then Ms. Yukisome lifted up the mistletoe. The guy still wasn't over the shock when she leaned over kissed his cheek. Aww! So that's what she meant by twice, once for Soda and once for her! I got back to my home and went to sleep, satisfied with the day and night.

A/N- Hey! I decided to do this last minute, but it just came to me and I was like, "eh why not." I don't think this will be cannon in the story because of its awkward placement, but maybe I'll do another Christmas chapter in the future. Also, I didn't want to do that cliché where you get your love interest for secret Santa or your love interest gets you, so I just randomly selected a character for Y/N's gift getter then I picked Sonia for her secret Santa just to establish that they won't be rivals what so ever in this story. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the next chapter out soon, but most likely after Christmas. Happy Holidays, Co-author.
