It was a beautiful holiday morning for anybody who was into nice morning walks. Clouds gave shade to the parking lot beside Harbor Square where a couple of people were playing tennis and badminton. No cars were parked at the moment so conditions were perfect for anybody who wanted to play and was sporty, or atleast feeling sporty that is.
"Ayusin mo yung backhand swing mo. Sa wrist kasi dapat yung lakas kapag malapit na yung bola sa racket," Rey taught Ezekiel."Nabo-bore na akong kalabanin ka. Masmagaling sana yung makalaban ko kaso wala si ate eh."
"Yabang mo ah! I'm in training!" Ezekiel whined. "Ikaw nga eh noob ka pa rin!"
"Heh whatever, nagugutom na rin ako. Tama na 'to," Rey said.
"Sige na nga. Bihis muna tayo," Ezekiel replied.
The two picked up their bags they left on the floor from the side of the parking lot then walked to the restrooms to change. Ezekiel finished changing from his jersey and freshening up then waited for Rey outside, the guy takes atleast 10 minutes just fixing his hair.
Ezekiel felt a small jolt of pain run up his spine.
"Ow!" he shrieked. He rubbed his nape then felt his hand tingle. He looked at his hand then suddenly it began to shoot tiny blue sparks like it was a live wire.
"What the?" Ezekiel said in shock. "Kuya Rey-"
"Don't call him, boy, he's busy," a deep gentle voice spoke to him from out of nowhere. Ezekiel was creeped out.
"Huh? S-sino ka?" he spoke to the wind.
"This will be short, young man. I give to you the power over what you have always wanted. I bestow upon you, the Fade, control over electricity, but to a limited extent. Yung kuya mo, kailangan niya yung tulong mo," the voice said.
"Huh? Wait, electric powers?" he examined his hand which which was sparking like crazy. "Oh! Lightning powers! Yessssss!" his whole body crackled with electricity as it responded with his excitement.
"Uy Ezekiel anong ginagawa mo?" Rey said from inside the restroom.
"Hide those powers. Wag ka masyadong excited, you'll hurt yourself. Goodbye for now," the voice said.
Ezekiel calmed down and the electricity faded.
Rey got out from the restroom, finally finished styling his hair. "Bro ano yung naririnig ko kanina? Parang may posteng nasira."
"Parang hindi ka nagbihis ah," Ezekiel noticed.
"Ay oo nga no! Teka lang," Rey went back to the restroom.
"Ay naku. Bilisan mo na! Kakain na tayo tapos uuwi na!"
Ezekiel looked at his hand again and made it ignite with sparks.
"Hehehe. Ipapaakita ko to kay kuya Michael," he grinned mischievously.
