"Please just give him a chance, I don't want either of you to leave with a black eye" I encourage Harry as we make our way back downstairs to the party. Thankfully he has agreed to just talk to Ethan. I'm ready to bury this whole thing and move on. We don't all have to be bff's, but it would be nice to be civil with each other.

"I'll try not to" he laughs before kissing my cheek.

"Thanks for doing this.. I know you don't want to, but just know it means a lot to me" he nods before letting go of my hand and walking over to Ethan. I sit down on the couch and intently watch the guys.

Never would I have thought My ex boyfriend and Harry would be having a conversation without punches being thrown, well so far so good. I get frustrated when I see Ethan place a hand on Harry's shoulder and point to the stairs while Harry nods. They want to talk in private? Oh gosh. Now I can't observe what they're saying. They'll be fine, right?

Harry's POV

"Uh.. Hey Ethan, can we talk"

"Harry? Yeah sure. Wanna go upstairs?"

"Sure" I agree even though I'm a little apprehensive.

"What's up?" He asks as we make it to the top of the stairs. I'm already taken back by his calmness. Whenever I speak to him he's either angry, yelling or throwing a punch at me.

"Look, I know you're talking to Aubrey again, and I'm going to be honest, I don't like it at all. She claims that you're different now and I trust her, but it's you that I don't trust."

"She's right, I have changed. And I know she's your girlfriend now, but I want to make things right. She deserves to be with you, I treated her like shit. But like I said, I want to show her how sorry I am by being a friend, so I hope you can accept that."

"Do you know how many fucking days, no, weeks, that she was crying over what you did to her? Do you know how long it took her to even trust me? You have no idea what you did to her. And I won't let it happen again. Stay away from her" I yell. I hadn't planned on it, but this little act isn't working on me. I will not let him hurt her again. She has been hurt by too many people, and I will protect her as much as I can.

"Harry, wait! Let me finish" he stops me and I turn around to look at him. "I need to apologize to you too. I never should have punched you at try outs or at the game the other day. Mainly because the reasons I did it were not good enough and I was just being a jealous douche, but you also have a viscous right hook" He laughs before becoming serious again. "I was a dick, I know, and I'll own up to that. I was full of myself and didn't care about anyone else when I should have. If you love Aubrey, than let me make it up to her, and you because that's what she wants. I'm done being an ass, I'm done with the fighting. I'm ready to grow up."

"First of all, don't ever question my love for her, I love her more than you ever could, and secondly," I say before stopping and let out a huge sigh. "I am willing to forgive you if you swear not to pull any shit again. I'm giving you one chance to make this right, for Aubrey's sake. She's been holding this grudge and I know it's eating away at her conscience. And third, I do have a pretty good right hook, yeah?" I smile before walking closer to him. It feels good to be in control of this conversation. I feel like for once I am the one who has the upper hand between Ethan and I, and it makes me feel like he's really different.

"Yeah, you gave me the worst black eye I've ever seen!" He chuckles and I join in.. This can't be too bad.

"Seriously though, one mistake, and your dead. No touching, no flirting, strictly a friend relationship" I warn him.

"That's all I want."

"Why is it so important to you anyway? Why isn't it enough to just move on when you see she's clearly happy?"

"I feel like I owe it to her, and to myself. I don't want to be that guy anymore. I need to prove that I'm not"

"Well I really hope for her sake that you have changed."

"I really appreciate you talking to me, even though I know Aubrey probably forced you to" He laughs before holding out his fist for me to bump. I cringe at how he guessed that right. I hate that he knows her so well because they dated for so long. But those days are over, and I brush it off knowing that I'm the only one who knows the Aubrey that she is now.

"Oh and one more thing, I'm not completely sold on this 'bad turned good' act your trying to pull, but as long as nothing happens, you can speak to her. I will be watching you, and if I get the feeling that your intentions for my girlfriend are poor, than I will not hesitate to kick your ass. Got it?"

"Got it." He replies. I nod my head before walking away.

As much as I don't want him around myself or Aubrey, I know they are both right when they say she deserves this closure. I will give him a chance, because Aubrey thinks we should. But I am not kidding when I say one wrong move for him, and he's done.

I walk back to Aubrey while trying to figure out why the hell I just agreed to this. Am I the worst boyfriend for letting my girlfriend and her ex talk again? This better work out, or I'll blame myself.

"Aubrey what are you doing?" I laugh when I make it back to her and she starts touching my face and looking at my hands.

"No black eye, no bloody nose or knuckles... It went okay?"

"As of now, we're good. But I'm still not 100% Aubs, you just need to be careful, alright? You're not to be alone with him, no matter how controlling I am, I don't trust him fully yet, okay?"

"I know, I wouldn't want to be anyway. But doesn't it feel good? I feel like the weight of Ethan had been lifted of my shoulders" she lets out a deep breath. I guess as long as she is at ease, I should breathe too.

"I guess?" I laugh.

"Thank you, Harry" She presses a kiss to my cheek, but I turn just in time to meet lips with hers.

"Well I've had too much of Ethan tonight, can we get out of here?"

"I thought you'd never ask" She grins.
