Rayla's pov

I sighed covering my face with my arm as sun peaked into the room god i hated mornings I wanted to roll over but a pair of arms stopped me from moving, I blushed as I remembered yesterday but all I did was snuggle into his arms blushing "good morning" he muttered "hello love" I replied "how long have you been up?" he asked I shrugged "not long"I replied "liar I know you,did you actually sleep?" he whispered looking at me "no but it's ok" I replied burying my head "you need to sleep I know you're a moonshadow elf but still" he replied playing with my hair to which I only shrugged slightly and moved to get up "rayyyyyyylllllllaaaaaaaa" he whines tightening his grip on me "whaaaaaaaat" I replied whining also "stay" he muttered trying to pull me closer which made me blush and look away from him " we have to get up" I muttered "no we don't you really think anyone expects us to be out in public?" he replied making me sigh "please?" he whispered and I gave in letting him pull me closer "thank you" he whispered kissing my head "mmm your lucky I love you, ya dumb human" I muttered and buried my head in his shoulder "im your dumb human ray" he spoke "I know" I muttered smiling like an idiot.

Callum's pov

She buried her head in my shoulder, I rubbed her back lightly which only made her move closer to me. I looked down at her "you alright?" I asked earning only a nod in response "would you tell me if you weren't?" I asked "of course, don't worry ok? im just tired from everything that's happened in the last week or so" she replied moving her head to look at me but kept it resting on my shoulder. I didn't say anything I just looked at her "what?" she teased smiling like an idiot "nothing your just...really pretty" I replied she blushed and looked away from me "aw don't hide" I whined as she slid out of my grasp "come on dumb human we've been lazy long enough besides I have some stuff in xadia I need to do" she spoke "oh?" I replied "I have some things I need to collect from the house and one of my friends reached out to me saying she had something for me" she spoke "alright we can head out after lunch" I spoke she nodded "ill meet you there " she spoke grabbing a change of clothes then leaving. I stretched and got up, after I was done changing I left the room and headed to the dinning hall where I was met by rayla and my parents "we were wondering if we'd see either of you today" my mom spoke "sorry we slept in late" I muttered my parents only nodded "we're not staying long just long enough to grab something to eat then we're heading out" rayla spoke I think she was hoping if they knew we had plans they'd let us go. My mom simply nodded and let us go -much to rayla's excitement- she followed me into the kitchen where we snagged some food and headed out. We got some horses and left. Rayla was excited to go back home even for a little bit "I think this would be the first time you've truly will meet runann and ethari" she spoke "well ive met them in passing but yea" I replied looking over at her as she smiled brightly

Chapter 8

Rayla's pov

We stopped when we arrived at silver grove "rayla!" someone called "ethari!" i called getting off my horse and running ethari "welcome back" he laughed hugging me but i only smiled "I just came back to grab a few things and apparently Abby has something for me" I spoke he nodded "yeah she came by a while ago asking if you'd come by yet" he smiled I only smiled I liked abby she was like my older sister we had trained as assassins together when she got invited to the dragon guard when her father died. "I'll head over there in a bit" I spoke "why not go now? That gives runann and I a chance to get to know callum" he spoke making me roll my eyes. "just don't kill him before I get back" I joked making ethari and callum smile "I wont go" he spoke shaking his head at me. I gave callum a smile before I ran off in the direction of Abby's house. I knocked on the door once I arrived and her mom opened the door "oh rayla! How lovely to see you! Abby has told us about everything congrats" she spoke "thanks that means a lot" I smiled as a shadow appeared in the living room behind abby's mom "abby!" I squealed "rayla!" she smiled and ran to hug me "oh my god I've missed you" she spoke "same to you abby" I replied "abby leave the poor girl alone and give her the box" her mom laughed "oh right! sorry" she moved away from me and grabbed a small box handing it to me "what is it?" I asked "it's from your mom...she told me to give it to you whenever I felt you'd need it and I figured you could probably use it now I mean I would have given it to you sooner but I never knew when to actually give it to you" she spoke I opened the box inside was a set of keys and a letter. I felt myself tear up "is this?" I whispered "they keys to your parents old house? Yeah she didn't trust runann or ethari to keep it a secret so she trusted me with it. she always wanted you to have what you needed rayla did you really think she'd leave you with nothing?" abby spoke "no I knew she wouldn't but I don't know how to feel about this either" I replied looking down at the set of keys then looked at abby "thank you abby" I spoke smiling softly "of course rayla your like my younger sister" she spoke I smiled "now you might want to go save your husband from runann and ethari" she joked making me laugh "yeah I suppose I have to" I replied smiling like an idiot "im glad you found your person rayla" abby spoke "thanks abby" I spoke turning to leave I waved before breaking out into a run to make it home. I walked into the house "your back, what did abby have for you?" it was runann who asked I didn't say anything and simply held up the keys to show them. Ethari and runann's eyes widened "the keys to my parents house" i whispered looking down. "..." none spoke for a moment but callum moved to be closer to me and give me a side hug "are you ok?" he asked "yeah" I replied "I'm just thinking" I added but I could tell none really believed me. I wanted to cry and I think everyone could tell but none spoke callum just held me close to him rubbing my arm my ears twitched slightly from the action.

Chapter 9

Rayla's pov

We spent the night in xadia-which oddly was comforting for me-. I was up early the next morning way before callum was or my guardians which was how I found myself sitting on the porch by myself watching the sunrise, it was always pretty especially if you got up early enough to watch "hey" a sleepy voice spoke making me jump, I turned my head and was met by callum "hey" I whispered as he sat next to me. "you ok?" he asked "yea I'm ok" I whispered leaning against him blushing slightly. His arm wrapped around me as he rubbed my back. "I have no idea what's going to happen callum..." I whispered "neither do I rayla but were in this together." He whispered kissing my head "I know" I replied smiling softly. My ears twitched slightly as I moved closer to callum if that was even possible. "it's funny isn't it? we went from keeping our relationship a secret to being married and we've only really known each other for a year" I spoke making him smile "yeah true" he laughed making me smile I loved hearing him laugh it made me happy. "are my fathers up yet?" I asked, "ethari is but runann isn't that I know of anyway" he spoke making me nod "runann is usually up before ethari wonder If training was rough" I sighed softly thinking of the training sessions I had with runann "so who fucked up?" I added making callum laugh at me. "I still wish I could learn how to be an assassin" callum spoke "it's not easy" I spoke "rayla's right it's not" I heard runann speak making us both jump. "sorry" he spoke then looked at me "you want to join us for today's training?" he asked "sure" I smiled excited to be able to still go back.
