CHAPTER FIFTEEN

MEETING MISS MIYAZAKI

Luma woke up to their phone ringing beside them. Groaning, they rubbed their eyes as they woke up. Their hand felt around the bed where the vibrating and ringing was occuring. They sat up from Kaeya's chest as they checked the contact. "Mom?" Luma's eyes widened, seeing the contact name displayed across their screen.

They quietly got off the bed and rushed to the bathroom, shutting the door. Leaning against it, Luma clicked the answer and brought their phone to their ear.

"Hey mom." "Hi honey, how are you?" "I'm good. How are you?" They asked hesitantly. Luma didn't know why they were so nervous. It was just their mother. Their mother they haven't seen and talked to for months. Their mother had an intense argument about grades the last time they saw each other. But, like most times, she's forgotten about it by now.

"I'm great. I just arrived at home for a few days and wanted to see you," Hayami said. Luma chewed on their bottom lip nervously. "Yeah um...does tomorrow work, lunchtime? I'm busy today with my-" Luma cut themselves off quickly, almost telling their mother they were spending time with their 'boyfriend'. "With your what?" She asked sternly. Luma sighed heavily, closing their eyes and leaning their head against the wall.

"I have a boyfriend," they confessed, sort of. "Bring him tomorrow. I'd like to meet him." It was too early for Luma to be questioned why they were dating the guy that hurt them in middle school. So, they just sighed and complied. "Bye mom, love you." "Love you too, sweetheart," Hayami said and hung up abruptly.

Luma groaned loudly and ran their hand down their face. Turning around, they opened the bathroom door and saw Kaeya scrolling through his phone. "Hey," he greeted them, looking up from his phone. "Hi um..." They nervously began, fumbling with their phone. "I just talked with my mom and...she wants to meet you," they explained.

"Again?" He asked. Luma sighed again. "I let it slip that I had a boyfriend but I didn't tell her it was you." Kaeya nodded, lowering his head. He understood why they didn't tell Hayami. Being asked a dozen questions why you're dating the guy who betrayed you in middle school isn't the best thing to wake up to in the morning.

"Please just do it," Luma pleaded, "It's tomorrow at lunch." "Yeah, of course." "Thank you," Luma said, letting out a breath of relief. They laid down on the bed beside Kaeya, resting on the pillow. "I wanna sleep some more then we can get breakfast, okay?" They asked, looking up at him tiredly. "That's fine," he replied with a smile. They murmured a "thank you" and closed their eyes.

It was now Sunday and Luma was getting ready to have lunch with their mom and Kaeya. Both Luma and Kaeya were nervous. Luma was nervous due to not seeing their mom for months and Kaeya was nervous due to probably being known as the guy who hurt them back in middle school.
