it was always so beautiful, the ocean. swimming was like walking on sand or sidewalk as humans called it. i called for my ilu and dived into the water as my long curly hair flew back. i saw 3 ilus in the distance, i could barely see through the deep blue water that surrounded me. i followed the ilu's and found my sister and brother and roxto. "where do you think you're going? ella" ao'nung nagged in sign language underwater. i was also very fond of the nickname "ella" it was something about it. "not the outside the reef i don't think" roxto said with sarcasm "shut up" i responded batting my eyes at roxto then looking back at my twin and ao'nung "i wanted to go see my spirit sister."
"they aren't back yet, we'll see them soon" tsirerya stated with a warm smile putting her hand on my shoulder reassuring me so i would listen. i wish i could say me and tsirerya don't look alike but we do. it was like looking in a mirror honestly. as kids mom said she would switch us up all the time but the only difference is i'm shorter than her.
ao'nung said that's how he remembers but now our hair is like slightly different so you can tell us apart. but i think our faces are totally different.
as we were swimming through the reefs we decided to head back up to the surface. i looked over at tsirerya to see her fixed on something in the sky. i wanted to see what she was looking at so i looked aswell it was Forest banshees..there was 5 of them. although it wasn't enough to be a threat, i decided to take a closer look and it seemed to be a family. not our people. i did a loud echo calling over my ilu as i hopped back on going towards the village. this was exciting. we never ever get visitors. we saw from a distance that the unknown visitors were already chit chatting with the metkayina. i unplugged my bond with my ilu and dived back into the water feeling eyes burning on me. i walked towards the shore flipping my wet hair noticing one of the forest boys staring at me and the other one looking at tsirerya. ao'nung took notice of this and immediately scoffed.
ao'nung and roxto walked around the two boys as the boys gave them greeting gesture. "what is that" roxto questioned. "is that a tail" ao'nung joked adding to roxto's stupidity as the crowed laughed. To be honest i hate when roxto and ao'nung are together. they just spark off each other's energy. i walked over to my brother and slapped him while tsirerya slapped roxto. i looked back over to the boys because i was so fascinated by the new na'vi's i have never seen before. "hey" the forest boy smiled as i giggled. tsirerya looked at me and gave me a he-likes-you look so i laughed even more. i looked behind me and saw skimwings in the distance, i knew it was my parents. but it wasn't my dad i was worried about it was my mom.
"why do you come us jakesully" my father questioned as my mother came just around the corner.
"we seek refuge" he replied.
"refuge?" my mother shouted.. i almost jumped a bit
"yes a sanctuary for me and my family" he continued swallowing a huge chunk of saliva. i gave my sister and brother a worried look although my brother didn't seem to care.
"we are reef people. you are forest people your skills will mean nothing here." my father continued.
"then we'll learn your ways right?" sully challenged looking back towards his family. as they all replied yes. my mother started snooping around behind them, grabbing their tails really inspecting them. i thought it was a lil harsh, even though i couldn't see how their skills would be useful here. their arms were way too thin, they'd be hella slow in the water.
"their arms too thin. their tails are weak" my mom interrupted pulling a forest girls tail. "you will be slow in the water" she added. then i saw her notice their hands "these children... they're not even true na'vi" she yelled grabbing her wrist to show her hands. "yes we are!" the girl fired back.
my mother walked over to one of the boys. The boy i got butterflies from not even 10 seconds ago.. she grabbed his arm as he looked down in embarrassment "they have demon blood!"
"look. look" jake sully lifted his hand to show it was him that "ruined" the bloodline. "i was born of the sky people and now i am na'vi... alright you can adapt" he explained turning to my father.
"seems that ewya has turned her back on you" my mother teased to the women, who seemed to be the mother. the women scowled as my mother did back.
"i just want to keep my family safe" jake added grabbing his daughter.
my mother looked back at sully while he caressed his youngest and looked at my father, she finally gave in
"Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us, treat them as your brothers and sisters. Now, they do not know the sea, so they be like babies taking their first breath."
"teach them our ways, so they don't suffer the shame of being useless" my father announced talking to the people and looking at us to make sure we were listening.
"thank you" the little girl blurted which made me smile.
the rest of the family said thank you and seemed pretty grateful my parents said yes.
"my son Ao'nung, Our Daughters, Tsirerya and Arielliaä will show your children what to do" my dad continued. "dad why do-" "It is decided" my dad cut Ao''nung off sternly.
"come we will show you our village" i began with a smile while i noticed the boy looking at me again. i smiled to myself as we walked into the mangroves which is where we lived. we led them to a small but nice sanctuary. my sister came up from behind me "talk to him " she whispered while i looked at her back as she walked past me and continued going to her destination. "here it is, your new home" tsirerya said.
"we can work with this" sully announced as everyone else went inside. we decided to leave them to unpack as i echoed for my ilu but while i did this i saw someone looking at me in my peripheral vision.....
