When I entered Creative Writing class, I sat down in my chair. Jasper walked in and saw me. I didn't see him walking up to me as I was looking through my bag for my journal. "Hello," Jasper spoke up, sliding into the seat next to me. I looked up at him in shock. This is the first time he has ever spoken to me.

"Hi!" I smiled at him, shaking my shock away. "I'm Jasper Hale," Jasper introduced himself. "Odette, Odette Jones," I answered like Bond, James Bond. I giggled as he smiled at the reference as class began. We had to write an original story. For some reason, I decided to write a story on my move to Forks.

"You've been gone," I asked, clicking my pen and beginning to write. "I thought you were sick, I was going to bring you some soup but I don't know your address" I could see a small smile on his face.  "I wasn't sick. I was out of town. For personal reasons,"

Jasper answered, I glanced at him but he just leaned far away, his face tight. I looked back at my journal. Which had hearts and flowers on it. "So your sisters talked to me a few days ago," I spoke up. "They told me about it," Jasper agreed. "They like you." I smiled at that. "Does she talk to other students as well?" I asked.

"Or am I special?" Jasper let out a little laugh before sighing. "She normally keeps to our siblings," Jasper answered. "Ah, okay," I nodded my head. "People are quite mean and are mostly jealous of her. I mean, look at her. she a goddess" jasper nods as I smile.

"Enjoying the rain?" He asked me, diverting the conversation. "Seriously? You're asking me about the weather?" I chuckled.  "It appears," Jasper replied. "I like it," I answered. "Seems too dreary for my taste but I like the rain. It's fun to dance in." I giggled as I looked at my journal.

For some time, he seems more intrigued than agonized. He studied me. I wondered if he was doing this because he hates me or not. "Do I have something on my face?" I asked. I took a compound mirror and looked at my face. I put some lip gloss on while I had it out.

I looked at him as he shook his head and turned a page in his journal as he wrote some sentences down. I looked at him and I noticed his face. He looked just like a sculpture. "No, it's perfect," Jasper answered. I snapped out of it and blushed. "Thank you," I thanked him.

"You're welcome, Ma'am," Jasper answered. I giggled as I glanced at him and, this time, I saw his smile. As we wrote in silence, Jasper looked at me. "If you love cold and rain, why did you live in the desert?" He asked me. "It's complicated," I replied. "I think I can keep up," Jasper answered.

He seems interested. I read as I answered. "My sister got into a college in Italy with her boyfriend Jay. I couldn't go with her," I replied. Jasper was slightly tense for a second before answering.  "Do you know which one?" Jasper wondered.

When the bell rang, I exited as Jasper was in front of me. "which school?" He asked me. He waited for my answer. I was drawn in by his attention, oddly compelled. This is the first time a guy paid attention to me without the intention of sleeping with me. Or my sister.

"Um... I think it was called Volterra International Residential College," I answered. "Jay already went there she got a scholarship to study there." Jasper tensed up again. I was confused why but I didn't question it. "Do you miss her?" Jasper wondered. "I do," I sighed.

"But she and Jay are thinking of taking online classes and moving to forks" "have you met him?" Jasper asked me. "Not in person, but I have seen him on some calls," I answered truthfully.  He's trying to understand me. Our eyes meet again.

But now I could look more closely at him. His eyes were golden. "Did you get contacts?" I asked him. ".....no," Jasper answered. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Your eyes were black before, now they're this golden brown or-." "I'm sure," Jasper replied. "I just like color-changing contacts."

I looked into his eyes for a few seconds. "They look good on you, beings out your hair and appearance" I blushed as Jasper walked me to my locker. We saw Edward walk by us and I noticed his hands clenched into tight fists. Bella was standing there as she watched him leave as well.

"I'll see you later," I told him as Jasper nodded. "Goodbye, Ma'am," "B-bye," Jasper nodded as he left. Bella and I walked outside. The rain has stopped, but the parking lot is full of water and patches of black ice. Shivering, Bella and I head for our cars, she carrying an onion, carefully navigating the icy puddles.

As we reached our cars, I looked across the lot and I saw Jasper stand by his motorcycle with his siblings, about to climb in. A moment before our eyes met, then he looked toward the sound of a high-pitched screech, that quickly grows louder. Bella and I turned to see a van, skidding on the ice, careening out of control, and heading directly for us.

I pushed Bella out of the way as I saw everyone looking at me. Tyler was desperately trying to gain control, then he shielded his face. I saw Jasper looking at me in horror. The van hit me as I flew back and hit my head on the concrete sidewalk. I saw Edward next to Bella and pinned her down.

She saw Edward hover over her as Jasper was next to her. My vision faded from the shock as he said something.

-Jasper's Pov-

I saw the van hit Odette as she flew back and hit her head on the sidewalk. I ran towards her as Edward ran to Bella. I hovered over Odette as she saw me. "Odette, don't close your eyes," I told her as she closed her eyes. Carlisle told me that if a human hit his or her head, they must not close their eyes.

But I don't think she hit her head. I think she was in shock. I sighed as the van smashed into the back of Bella's truck. It careened toward her and Edward as Edward's hands created a deep dent in the side of the van's body as it shuddered to a stop, a foot from Bella.

I held Odette in my arms as Edward pushed the van away. Then silence. A long beat, void of any sound, as Bella looked at Edward, trying to absorb what just happened. Odette went limp in my arms as she lost consciousness. That's when the screaming began.
