Chapter Seven
Promotion

THE morning after her session with Linda and deciding that she indeed wanted to be a detective, Amelia decided to tell Ella over a quick breakfast.

Silence filled the air as Amelia leaned up against the kitchen door coffee in hand watching as Ella ate the small breakfast that Amelia made for her.

"You're being strange." Ella spoke up, finally breaking the silence. "Watching me like this...I might think your stalking me A."

"Sorry," Amelia shakes out of her thoughts and directs her eyes somewhere other than her friend's face.

"What do you need to tell me?" Ella asks taking a bite from her eggs. "I've known you for what 25 years or so, and I know that when you need to tell me something that you think I'll flip out about you bite your lower lip and stare deep into my soul, which you're doing both."

Amelia inhales sharply, pushing down her nerves and deciding to blurt it out will get it over with. "I want to be a detective again." She voices, the words coming out of her mouth all at once, if Ella hadn't know her for this long she'd be incredibly lost.

"Okay." Ella replies simply. "I'm not your parent, I can't control what you do."

"I know, but are you ok with it?"

"Yeah." Ella answers simply. "Just try not to get yourself killed."

Amelia chuckles under her breath a smile creeping on her face. "Easier said then done my friend, but I'll try my hardest."

Ella smirks holding up her pinky finger. "Pinky promise?"

"Ah you cheeky turd." Amelia scoffs her a grin on her face as she wraps her pinky around Ella's

"Now you have to keep this or that's breaking kindergarten code."

Amelia releases a laugh before nodding in agreement. "Let's go so I can get an application for the detective job."

AMELIA and Ella managed to get to work earlier than normal and get their stuff put away and start their day off.

Amelia managed to get an application form from one of the other officer's and fill it out along with edit her résumé all within the work day along with get the work that she needed to get done, done.

"Amelia, the lieutenant wants you to see you in her office." Dan informs her, popping into the forensic office.

Amelia brows furrow has she makes eye contact with a just as confused Ella before she removes herself from her seat and makes her way to her bosses office.

"You wanted to see me?" Amelia questions rather nervous as to what she could've possibly done, was it for the day before when helping Chloe and Lucifer with the case? What could it be other than that?

"Yes, I wanted to inform you that you got the job, you our new detective and you'll be working with Mr. Morningstar and Detective Decker." The lieutenant tells her.

Amelia's jaw drops in shock. "B-but I didn't even apply for the job yet."

"Well, some did and they where extremely persuasive." She practically melts at the last two words causing Amelia to feel uncomfortable and with a thank you rush out of the room.

"E!" Amelia shouts flinging the forensics door "I don't know how, but I got the job!"

Ella whips her head around shock written on her face. "What?" She questions joy leaking through her tone.

"Yeah, I have no idea how but I'm officially a detective!" Amelia exclaims.

Ella lunges at her friend pulling her into a tight hug. "I'm so happy for you!"

"Why are you two so happy?" Chloe questions walking into the room and finding two extremely happy women.

Amelia pulls out of the hug and turns to fully face the blonde. "I thought you'd know, I'm now a detective and I shall be joining you and Lucifer." Amelia smiles from ear to ear.

"I like this idea, someone other than Lucifer." Chloe slowly nodded her head thinking of how this new arrangement would work.

"Oh did we get a new case?" Lucifer voice echos through the room. "We're all gathered in here."

"Amelia will be joining us from now on." Chloe informs that tall man.

"Oh so she did accept my request." Lucifer gives a toothy grin, proud of his work.

Amelia's mouth drops she couldn't believe what she was hear, or well maybe she could. "You're the one who-I- thank you." Amelia did something she hardly does and pulled Lucifer in a tight hug. After a second of not knowing how to react he wrapped his arms around her and smiled softly.

Chloe backed up beside Ella who stared at the pair with a small smile on her face at the joy Lucifer had brought her dear friend .

"How much do you want to bet they will end up together?" Chloe whispers "I already have Dan in this, he thinks they won't end up together because Lucifer is well Lucifer, but look at them."

Ella glance over at Chloe her smile growing. "Oh they'll get together. It might take a while because she has walls built around her, but I think he's slowly breaking them, she only ever hugs me, she's never hugged anyone else."

"Well then, Dan's gonna his lose money." Chloe mutters.

"Oh no, there's two detectives." Lucifer states looking between the two. "What ever shall I do, I can't call you both detectives."

"Man if only I had your problems." Amelia huffs with a shake of her head. "you can continue how you call us now?" She suggests to which Lucifer nods in agreement.

"Detective." He points to Chloe. "Park." He points to Amelia who nods with her lips pressed together.

"Wanna help with paperwork?" Chloe questions folding her hands in front of her trying to look innocent.

"I mean I don't want to do paperwork, but I'll gladly help my new partner." Amelia answers.

"Don't forget about now." Ella voices her arms crossed over her chest.

Amelia grabs her friend's shoulder and make eye contact with her. "You've been by my side through everything, why would I ditch you now."

"Fair point." Ella mutters.

"Plus I'd have to kill you if I ditch you, you know to much about me." Amelia quips followed by a wink causing a smile to spread across Ella's face. "Love you E."

Ella pulls her friend into a tight hug. "Love you too, congrats on the new job."

"Thank you." Amelia whispers wrapping her arms around her best friend's waist.

Now started Amelia's first day as a detective in LA, and this time she had a couple partners...what could go wrong?
