Hinata walked into the gym the next day fuming. All because of some stupid boy, Hinata doesn't know his name and he doesn't care, who confessed to Kageyama that morning. He was with him now, giving him his answer.

"Can you believe it?!" Hinata exclaims as he puts on his volleyball shoes. "I mean really?!"

"Believe what? That Kageyama got a confession?" Nishinoya asks with a hand on his chin. "I mean, yeah. Despite his personality, he is attractive."

"True," Tanaka agrees. "I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner."

"Why are you so mad about it, Hinata?" Suga asks. "Don't tell me you're homophobic," he says, but already knows that isn't why Hinata's upset.

"What?! No!" Hinata says quickly. "It's just- it's just-"

"It's just, what?" Tsukishima asks, looking at Hinata smugly. It's actually ridiculous how obvious Hinata is being about his jealousy right now.

"Nothing," Hinata says, defeated. He settles for pouting with his arms crossed, waiting for Kageyama to arrive.

Finally, Kageyama enters the gym with a red face. Everyone surrounds him immediately.

"So what'd you say?" Tanaka questions Kageyama. Nishinoya echoes something along the lines of what Tanaka asked. Everyone else looks at Kageyama expectantly.

Kageyama just shrugs. Truth be told, he had turned down the confession but everyone seems so excited right now and he doesn't want to disappoint them.

"Ah Kageyama, ever the mysterious one," Tanaka jokes and everyone gets ready to start practice.

Hinata is off all practice. He isn't hitting any of Kageyama's tosses and his receives are even worse than usual. It's clear that Kageyama is getting frustrated with him and Hinata feels bad.

"Hinata, dumbass!" Kageyama yells when practice is over. "What the hell was that? You were totally off your game."

"I know, I know," Hinata says. He rubs his neck sheepishly. "Sorry, I was just distracted, that's all."

"Well you better do better tomorrow," Kageyama says. Him and Hinata begin walking out of the gym together, a frown placed firmly on Hinata's face.

Kageyama is his setter. He doesn't want anyone to take Kageyama away from him. He wants to be Kageyama's favorite person. He doesn't want Kageyama to get a boyfriend. Unless…

"Oi, dumbass." Kageyama waves his hand in front of Hinata's face, snapping him out of his thoughts. "What is with you today?"

"Haha, nothing," Hinata says. "So did you accept the confession?" He wasn't going to ask. He really wasn't. But he just needs to know.

"No."

Hinata breathes out in relief. Kageyama didn't accept, he doesn't have a boyfriend. "Oh."

"Well see you later, Kageyama," Hinata says. Kageyama watches Hinata bike away, slightly confused by his strange behavior. But then again, Hinata is weird sometimes, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Once Hinata arrived at his house, he grabbed some food and rushed up to his room, hopping onto his bed. He pulled out his phone to text Kenma.

To: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Kenma, help me! (‘◉⌓◉’)

Hinata waits for Kenma's response and Natsu enters his room. He really wishes she wouldn't just barge in his room without knocking, but hey, that's what little sisters do.

"Nii-chan! I want to see Tobio-Nii!" she complains. She pouts at Hinata. "Why hasn't he been here, huh?"

"Because he's busy, Natsu." Hinata replies. "I'll tell him you said hi when I see him at school tomorrow, will that make you happy?"

"No! I want to see him so we can play," Natsu insists. Then she mumbles, "Nii-chan is more smiley when he's with Tobio. I want Nii-chan to be happy."

"Oh Natsu," Hinata says lovingly. He holds out his arms for her. "Come here."

Once Natsu leaves, Hinata checks his phone to see he has a text from Kenma. He quickly clicks on the message.

Is this about Kageyama?

Hinata frowns. That's not the only thing that Hinata has needed advice about before. How rude of Kenma to just assume this is about Kageyama.

To: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Maybe…
He got a confession today.

Kenma's response is quicker this time, Hinata frowns when he sees it.

From: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
And that's a problem because…?

To: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Because, he's my setter.

From: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Sounds like you want him to be more than just your setter.

To: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Well, yeah. What do I do?

From: Kenma ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Tell him?

Hinata puts his phone down. Should he tell Kageyama how he feels? There's no way Kageyama likes him back though, so what would be the point?

He just really hopes that Kageyama doesn't find someone else who isn't Hinata. Hinata doesn't think he could handle that.

Hinata has a terrible dream that night. He dreams where Kageyama rides away with a mystery guy, leaving Hinata behind. Hinata wakes up with his cheeks wet from tears.

As he gets ready for school, he feels a heavy feeling in his heart. The ride to school today feels weirdly lonely. When Hinata gets there, Kageyama had gotten there first and is waiting for him.

Hinata sets down his bike and Kageyama looks at him, a competitive spark in his eye. He takes off running to class and Hinata runs after him, both of them screaming.

The ache in Hinata's heart eases and he smiles to himself. Even if Kageyama doesn't reciprocate his feelings, he's glad to be his friend. That's all that matters.
