Sunstreaker is a broken thing his creator abandoned him at a youth sector the second he was sparked only to be adopted and abused to the point of breaking, he's been sent back to the youth sector again and again until they just stopped trying to adopt him and he's okay with that he's ment to be alone after all besides no one wants a broken metchling. He's violent, destructive, and anti-socal so when someone suddenly wants to adopt him "again" he knows he's going to be sent back so he doesn't even bother trying besides he doesn't trust THEM or the bright cherry metchling that follows him everywhere with a smile.
Sideswipe was drawn to the yellow metchling who's plating shined as bright as the sun he wasn't sure why he was drawn to him just like he wasn't sure why his spark felt lonely even when he was smiling and laughing with his adopted carrier Ratchet or playing games with his adopted coder Ironhide his spark still felt empty. But when he was with Sunstreaker his spark didn't feel as empty it felt better as if he was supposed to be with Sunstreaker, though others called Sunstreaker unstable and anti-socal he could tell that Sunstreaker was hurting and just as lonely if not even more so than he was, so he's determined to help Sunstreaker even if he didn't want him too.
When Ironhide and Ratchet decide to adopt another metchling that could play with Sideswipe neither expected to get a mechling as broken and traumatized as this one though the second they both laid optics on him they knew they couldn't just do nothing and let the mechling suffer in silence, so they adopt Sunstreaker and Ratchet will do everything he can to help heal the metchling and Ironhide will be damned if he let this mechling down after all both knew what it was like to feel like the entire world was against you. Though when an emergency with Sunstreaker spark requires Ratchet to check it they find more than they bargained for, though that won't stop them from helping Sunstreaker or Sideswipe.
