The dungeon was silent again after Mr. Raina dragged the culprit away, leaving behind the lingering scent of blood and dampness.
Abhirudra approached the bed and leaned over, supporting himself on his fists. The fierce anger in his eyes softened as he looked at his doll.
Gently, he touched her face, wincing at the sight of the blood staining her delicate features. Her condition was unbearable for him to witness.
Her cheek was bruised, blood dripped from her nose and lips—seeing her like this made him feel a mix of frustration and guilt.
He glanced at Ron, who stood beside him, equally shocked and seething with anger. Abhirudra’s temper flared as he snapped, "What are you standing there for? Go call the doctor, now!”
He shouted at the top of his lungs, causing Ron to flinch in fear. Snapping out of his shock, Ron quickly bowed, pulled out his phone, and rushed out of the cell to call the doctor.
Abhirudra's gaze returned to Aisha, his fierce expression softening instantly. With gentle hands, he brushed a strand of hair away from her face and carefully wiped the blood from her bruised skin.
In a tender whisper, he said, “Don’t worry, doll, I’m here.”
•••••••••••••••••
A blurry image of the dark dungeon ceiling greeted Aisha as she slowly opened her eyes. Her head throbbed painfully, and she felt so weak that she could barely move a muscle.
She took a deep breath, turning her head to the right. The smell of blood and moisture had been replaced by a floral fragrance. A freshener sat on the wooden table nearby.
Earlier, she had believed no one could save her from that disgusting man. She had been scared, angry, and alone. It felt like she was nothing more than a vessel for others’ cruelty, used, tortured, and left deeply hurt and broken.
Her mental and emotional health had deteriorated while she was trapped in that dark, suffocating place.
She thought about her dream, replaying Abhirudra's words in her mind. He was right—everything and everyone seemed to be against her.
Even God had seemingly turned His back, allowing her dignity to be trampled like garbage beneath their feet.
When Abhirudra came to her aid, it was the last thing she had expected. Deep down, a part of her had hoped he would save her, but it felt too much like a fantasy, a wish too far out of reach.
Why would he care about someone like her—a characterless gold digger?
Did he really come?
The dungeon was silent and serene once again. The entire place was empty; no one else was present. Aisha suddenly noticed her left arm was numb, and something heavy rested on her shoulder.
