After one month
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°The iron gate of the last cell creaked open, and the room was suddenly flooded with bright light.
Hearing someone enter, Aisha became alert. Her head throbbed from all the crying. Though her condition hadn't improved much, it wasn't as terrible as before.
As she opened her eyes, the sharp light made her close them again. The tall, broad figure standing in front of her blocked the light, giving her a moment to adjust.
Feeling the sudden shadow, Aisha slowly opened her eyes and blinked a few times, her vision still blurry.
She gradually looked up at the man standing before her, a small whimper escaping her lips. Tears filled her eyes, and her lips trembled.
The man stared at her with a blank expression, revealing nothing of what he was thinking. He stood there, unmoving, waiting for her to speak.
Aisha slowly sat up on the wooden bed with difficulty, the man still watching her without offering any help.
She didn’t mind and continued gazing at his handsome face, already used to his distant behavior.
Gently, she reached out her small, thin hand and held his large, calloused one.
“Abhirudra, why did you come so late?” she cried, resting her tear-stained cheek against his hand, feeling its warmth as her tears fell onto his palm.
Abhirudra’s heart softened instantly, like chocolate melting in a warm hand, as he heard her cry. His eyes softened as he gently tucked her hair behind her ear.
Feeling his warm fingers on her cheek, Aisha opened her eyes and looked up at him.
He cupped her cheek with his free hand and wiped away her tears. Without breaking eye contact, Aisha held the hand on her cheek.
She grasped both his hands and gently pulled him toward her, signaling him to sit beside her.
He sat beside her, and as she let go of his hands, he stared at his now-empty hands with a blank expression.
Aisha watched him with a storm of emotions swirling inside her, feeling a pang of hurt as he seemed distant, barely acknowledging her presence.
The silence weighed heavy on her. His once expressive eyes, which used to be filled with emotion, now seemed empty and cold to her.
Unable to bear it any longer, she suddenly wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly. She clung to his neck, burying her face into the warmth of his neck, seeking comfort.
She had no one left in the world except him and their children.
Her family had abandoned her, her friends had betrayed her, enemies became allies, and those she trusted turned against her.
