Indrani sat on a rocking chair in front of the window on the left side of the living area, her mind stuck on the incident. Aisha's words pierced her heart like a thorn. No one had the right to question her motherhood.

She would do anything for her children-after all, everything she was doing, all of this, was for them. She closed her eyes, allowing painful memories to creep back into her mind.

Suddenly, the sharp ring of her phone pulled her back to reality. She glanced at the screen and rolled her eyes at the caller's name.

Abhirudra

"Hello, beta (son)," she said softly as she answered the call.

"Namaste, Dadi. How are you feeling now?" he asked while going through some files.

Indrani had lied to him, claiming she was sick, and made sure to burden him with her company too.

"I'm feeling better now. Did you have lunch? Don't you dare tire yourself out," she said in a falsely worried tone.

"Yeah, I already ate. Actually, I called to inform you that I'll be coming back tomorrow. My work is almost done, so I'll be home soon." He paused for a moment-wanting to ask about something, or someone, but stopped himself.

Even though he asked about his grandmother's health, his responses seemed a bit robotic, showing that he was distracted and emotionally distant.

The pause made it clear that something else was on his mind, but he held back.

"Okay, bache (child). Remember to eat on time, and don't worry-I'll handle everything here," she said, doing her best to sound caring and sweet.

"Hmm, take care of yourself. I'll talk to you later," he said as Mr. Raina entered the office, carrying some files.

"Boss, here is the information you asked for," Mr. Raina said, bowing slightly as he placed the files on the table.

Abhirudra picked up the files and began reading. His eyes were glued to the pages, fully focused as if he were reviewing something important.

Suddenly, he paused and looked at Mr. Raina, inquiring, "Did you find it?"

"No, but we're trying our best." A look of shame crossed Mr. Raina's face as he admitted his failure to find that particular thing.

Abhirudra removed his spectacles, his eyes tired and heavy. His voice was dark and chilling as he spoke, "We don't have much time, you know that, right?"

"Boss, we are doing our best. We will definitely find it soon; please be patient," Mr. Raina said, feeling useless and helpless as he spoke in a dejected tone.

Abhirudra gestured for Mr. Raina to leave him alone; he wanted some peace of mind to think clearly about his next step and covered his face with his palms.
