I didn't need Anne to tell me to stop reading. We'd made a commitment, to each other, and in a way to Bertha Draconis as well, to find out what had happened those many decades ago. We looked at each other, and we both smiled.
"There's plenty of time to figure this out." I stood and stretched my legs. "At least you've got something to look forward to."
"What's that?" my dearest asked.
"You've always wanted a cat." I chuckled.
"We've got another problem then."
"Which is?"
"Where are we going to put a satyr?" We were just about to collapse in laughter when a clap of thunder temporarily disabled our hearing and shook the house.
