"UNDERSTAND⎯THAT THEY'LL LISTEN.."

---¤☆¤---

Picking at her bottom lip with her teeth, Luke was sitting on the fire escape, staring down at all of the passing people. If it wasn't for the fact that they had an argument a few minutes ago, she'd say he looked like he was at home. He had that same look on his face that he got whenever he was in the Hermes cabin. A soft dazed bliss. Feeling her Aunt's eyes drilling into her, she turns her gaze over to her Aunt, a nervousness in her chest.

Did her Aunt just know? Did she just know that something was off about Luke? Did she know that he wasn't as charming and 'boy next door' as he appeared to be? Did she know that he was a half-blood? Did she know? She always had a knack for knowing something and everything. Slowly creeping out of her room, she meets her Aunt at the doorway, dreading the conversation already. Her eyes darted from her Aunt Mav to Luke, then back again.

"That boy, Luke, he's a friend? More than a friend? Almost a friend? What is he to you?" Aunt Mav questions, her eyes glued onto him.

"Ex-friend. Well, I, uh, I think. I don't really know what he is just yet. It's just⎯he's done something really bad, Aunt Mav. And I don't really know what we are at this point, and I kinda don't wanna know." She explains, the words coming out like vomit.

"He did a bad thing? Honey, how bad are we talking?" Aunt Mav questions, "Police involvement, or pranked the wrong person and get in trouble?"

"Um, he can't come back to Camp level of bad. So whatever that is on the bad level meter, it's like bad? I don't know where that ranks to be honest." She explains, making her Aunt Mav hum.

"So why is he here? Why not go home? Surely, his parents want him to come home. I know that me and your Dad would want you to come home. What, do his parents not want him or something?" Aunt Mav questions, a light laugh in her voice.

She doesn't respond. Resisting the urge to cringe at the words, she recalls that her Dad had told the family very little of her godly descent, just that her Mother had a very rich lineage and had to leave due to family drama. She didn't know what to tell her Aunt. Does she lie? Does she tell the truth? Does she lie and tell the truth at the same time? Chewing on her bottom lip, she swallows the lump in her throat, trying to remain as calm as possible. She knows that if she shows even just the slightest bit of uncertainty she'd cave in and blurt out everything like a coward.

"Um, it's just that he's gonna start a lot of fights if he keeps doing what he's doing, Aunt Mav. It involves his Dad and other things." She explains, keeping things as minimal as possible.

"Are you trying to help him?" Aunt Mav asks, nudging her side.

"Yes, I guess? I⎯I just need to show him that taking it out on others isn't the way to go." She explains honestly, "That he can make his point without hurting others. That we can still fix things. That it's not too late."
