"Mujhe nhi pata tha" he defended

"Main janti hu ki tumhe nhi malum tha, but ek baar mujhse toh baat kar lete"

I watched the couple in the secluded corner of the reception hall have their first argument as a husband and wife.

I still remember Jay and I's first argument as a married couple but it was nowhere near as serious as this. If I'm not mistaken it was about tupperware.

"Bas kariye" I cut in "Dekho, jo ho gya so ho gya" I said "Ab iss baat kaat se koi fark nhi padta ki kaise hua ya hum pehle kya kar sakte the. Humare khyal se bas hume iss mudde par focus karna chahiye ki hum aage kya kar sakte h"

I watch Jay give me a thankful glance. He knows how badly he messed up and though I am trying my best not to be angry at him on his wedding day, a part of me still wants to punch him in the face just a little bit.

"Nikal dijiye use job se" Naina said immediately.

Admittedly I was surprised at the ruthless statement made by the typically thoughtful girl.

"Aur use aise hi bich majhdhaar mein chhod du? Aur use yahan Lucknow mein apne tabiyat ka kaam milne mein bhi kafi wakt lagega" Jay defended.

"Haan, toh shayad use yeh baat yahan shift hone se pehle sochni chahiye thi" Naina fought back.

Damn, I thought. I like this version of Naina.

"Par woh shift idhar isliye hi hui h kyu ki maine use job dilane ka wada kiya tha." he said.

“Theek h” I said before Naina could rebuttal.

“Kya, theek h?” he asked.

Kashish was my friend for many years. Though, trying to get with Karishma after knowing I was in love with her was wrong, and definitely put an end to our friendship, I couldn’t help but care for the girl.

Admittedly I don’t want her anywhere near Karishma but I trust my girlfriend and I know she would never hurt me.

“Jab tak use koi aur job nhi mil jati tab tak woh yeh job continue kar sakti h, Lekin jaise hi use koi nhi job milegi woh yeh idhar se resign karegi” I compromised. “Humare khyal se yeh fair hoga?” I asked.

“Haan, yeh ekdam sahi h” Jay said.

Naina shook her head “Haseena, nhi aisa mat karo” she said “Kya tumhe wakai lagta h ki yeh sahi hoga”

“Filhal humare paas aur koi option bhi toh nhi h” Jay said.

I decided to get back to my girlfriend in hopes that Kashish hadn’t found her first. Before I left Jay apologized for what felt like the millionth time and I shrugged it off.

I made my way through the sea of people and was enraged to find Kashish standing up from the table in which my girlfriend was seated in. She managed to escape before I arrived but didn’t fail to throw me a wink before disappearing into the crowd.

Bitch

As soon as I arrived Karishma rose to her feet.

“Please, bhagwan ke liye humse keh dijiye ki jo kuch woh keh ke gyi h woh jhut h” she said. I could see the anger in her eyes as I got closer

I sighed and slipped my hand to the back of her neck pressing our lips together without another word.

I leaned my forehead against hers before whispering, “Hum ghar chalte h, raste mein apko sab batate h, hmm?”

I looked into her eyes as she allowed the information to sink in. She knew by my response that the information given to her by Kashish was in fact truthful but I’d make sure to give her the correct version of the events on our way home. I don’t trust Kashish to have told her the truth.
