Aradhya and Rudra had been best friends for as long as they could remember. There were many moments when Aradhya was the only one Rudra could trust, until her husband came along. So as they walked down the shore of the beach Rudra debated confessing to Aradhya certain things about her life she has yet to divulge to anyone.

I hadn’t seen Kashish in longer than I care to remember, but I’m glad she decided to come visit from Mumbai. I imagine life as a model must be both exciting and exhausting for my good friend.

“Mujhe ab ek lambi si holiday chahiye,” she confessed taking a bite of the ice cream at hand.

She liked mint chocolate chip, which I found disgusting, and was not shy about sharing my thoughts with her.

Though she also had no hesitation in making fun of my cotton candy flavored ice cream pick, accusing me of being a five year old.

“Hum samjh sakte h,” I said.

“Aur batao Hasu, life mein kya kya chal rha h?” she asked as we found an empty spot on the sand and decided to take a seat.

The sun would start setting soon and she knew how much I loved to watch the scene.

“Wahi purana college teacher life” I lied.

She scoffed “Haseena, please” she said “Main bohot ache se janti hu tumhe. Jab se hum yahan aaye h tum hume kuch batana chahti ho. Aur hum tumhe force nhi karna chahte the isliye kuch bola nhi. But ab tum chup chap bata do ki kya chal rha h tumhare dimag mein”

I nodded and contemplated the best way to say it but my mouth opened up before I could think for too long.

“Hum apne husband se pyar nhi karte” I spat out without thinking thoroughly.

When I was met with silence I turned to meet her eyes that were just looking at me expectantly.

“Bas itna hi?” she asked “Sach mein Haseena tum pagal ho. Arey, yeh baat toh tum kisi andhe se puch lete toh woh tumhe bata deta,” she informed me taking another bite of her ice cream.

“Tum mazak kar rhi ho?”

“Humare chahre pe kahi likha h ki hum mazak kar rhe h? Dekho, hum tum dono ko jitna jante h, tum log bohot ache dost ho. You know Jay Veeru type.” she chuckled “But bas dost hi ho usse zyada kuch nhi”

I nodded, she definitely wasn’t wrong.

“Lekin sirf yeh baat nhi h, kyun? You been getting some on the side?” she asked nonchalantly.

Hazel eyes met another set of hazel eyes as a smirk rested on her lips.

I said nothing, but she knew.

“It better be some nice college booty” she said, “Kya naam h uska?”

I sighed, “Well, Pehle wale ka naam Vicky tha” I confessed “Kareeb ek saal pehle”

“Pehle wala?” she asked as if she couldn’t believe it “Matlab ek se zyada😏?”

She wiped a fake tear from her cheek along with a feigned whimper “Hume tum par kitna proud feel ho rha h hum bata nhi sakte”
