Noel's POV
"And there's nothing wrong with keeping your dad's name alive," I smiled. "Maybe one day you'll run LuthorCorp, and keep your dad's name a legacy."
"Maybe," Caden replied. "I wanna do good by Dad's name."
"I know you will," I replied. "Alright, you ready to go do some police work?"
"Yeah," Caden nodded.
"You putting him with Intelligence?" Kelly asked.
"Yeah, they're a good group," I stated. "I think he'll fit right in."
"I don't disagree. We work close with Intelligence, so we might see you on a couple calls," Kelly smiled. "Don't be a stranger, Caden."
"I won't," Caden smiled. I drove Caden to the Twenty First and we walked in. "It doesn't look much like a police department."
"Yeah, well, we're upstairs," I nodded. "Trudy, buzz me up?"
"Noelani Verbeck," Trudy pressed a button.
"Thank you," I replied. Caden followed me upstairs and into an office. I closed the door. "Sergeant Hank Voight."
"Noel," Hank gave me a hug. "I'm so glad you called."
"Me too," I smiled. "This is my first born, Caden Luthor."
"Hank Voight," Hank stated as they shook hands. "We'll take very good care of him."
"I'll leave you guys to it," I nodded. I left the office and closed the door behind me, causing me to come face to face with an old love of mine. "Jay."
"Hey, Noel," Jay smiled.
"Hey," I sighed. He motioned his head and I followed him to the conference room. He closed the door. "Jay, I can explain."
"You don't have to," Jay stated.
"I left without saying anything to anyone," I looked at him. "I at least owe you an explanation."
"No," Jay nodded. "I was hurt when you left. I thought I had pushed you away. That our relationship was too hard for you to hide."
"Jay, for what it was worth, I don't regret being with you, but you have to understand that it wasn't you."
"I thought it was. We were five years apart. I was a cop and you were a minor."
"And the Romeo and Juliet law didn't apply to us."
"But you were emancipated."
"Emancipation doesn't change the age of consent, Jay. Look, I loved you. When I moved, I had to get over you," I looked at him. "I've been married, twice. I have a third kid on the way. I built a life for me." Jay sighed. "I can't do this right now, but take care of my oldest son." I opened the door. "His name is Caden Luthor. He's riding along with you guys for the rest of the week."
"How old is your son?" Jay asked as he followed me to the main room.
"Hi, I'm Caden Luthor," Caden stated. "I'm seventeen years old."
"There you go," I parted. "Have fun, sweetheart. I'll be here to pick you up at nine."
"Okay, Mom," Caden replied.
"I'll walk you out," Jay nodded.
"I'm fine," I stated and left. I went to the airbnb. Oliver had taken Tabitha shopping. "I guess it's just me and Sammy for a bit. " I felt water trickling down my leg. "Oh no." That was followed by a contraction. "I'm going into labor." I grabbed my phone and called Sylvie. "Come on. Pick up."
"Hey, Noelani," Sylvie stated. "If this is anything that Caden said, we warned him it was girl talk."
"Sylvie, I'm going into labor," I stated. I gave them my address. "Okay, Sammy. We're going to wait outside fur the ambulance since your dad isn't here." I sent Oliver a text, hoping he'll meet us at Chicago Med. I sent a text to Caden as well. "Just hang in there, Sammy. I can hear them."
Caden's POV
I was sitting at Jay's desk as the team was arguing with each other. My phone dinged and I looked at it. "Hey, I hate to stop you, but can someone drive me to the hospital?" I asked.
"Are you hurt?" Kevin asked.
"No," I stated.
"Oh, then no," Kevin replied.
"My mom is having the baby," I explained. No one cared. "I'll find my own ride and call the press to say that CPD refuses to take a ride-along to the hospital while mother is in labor. That's a catchy headline, don't you think?"
"Like the press will believe you," Hailey looked at me.
"My dad is Lex Luthor and my step-father is Oliver Queen," I replied. "I promise you that they'll listen to me. Even if you think I'm a nobody."
"Are you sure he's Noel's kid?" Kim asked.
"Yeah," Jay sighed. Everyone looked at Jay. "He's too young to be mine."
"Okay, I don't wanna hear about my mom's love life," I stated. "I just need to get to the hospital to see my mom."
"Which hospital is she at?" Jay asked.
"Chicago Med," I replied.
"I'll take you," Jay nodded. "Let's go." We got into his truck and he started driving. "Are you excited for a little brother?"
"Yeah," I smiled. "I know Mom's happy to be a mom again."
"You think s0?"
"I know so," I replied. "What did you mean when you said I'm too young to be yours?"
"I was dating your mom when she got emancipated," Jay sighed. "Despite everything, she still left. Now, I was only an officer at the time. Well, come to find out, age of consent doesn't change even though she's emancipated."
"Did you love Mom?"
"I was willing to break off our relationship and wait till she was eighteen. Now, she left before we even talked about it. When I found out she married your dad, I was angry, yeah, but I knew she had moved on."
"I know we never met, because you live in Chicago," I looked at Jay. "I feel like I know you. Like I've seen you somewhere."
"Caden, I've never been to Smallville, Kansas or Metropolis," Jay replied. "Everything I know about your mom is just media talk. After she married your dad, her life was put out in public." I sighed. "Now she's one of the richest and powerful women in the world."
"Yeah, but when I found out where I know you from, I'll let you know," I stated. We pulled up to Chicago Med. "Thank you for the ride."
