Deep inside the deepest recess of this expansive library, a lone figure sat behind the towering multitude of books, resting her freshly cleaned shiners on the expensive table. Hiding behind a sturdy book with a sword symbol engraved on its cover.

"Guuh!" 'Pang!' "Mittelt is done! This is the last few books we found about those things!"

Mittelt swore as she dropped even more books on the already stacked table.

"Thank you..." Gillian clapped together the sturdy book she held, reaching out, and another one flew in her grasp.

"Why are we even doing this? And where the hell are we? This place looks too familiar." Mittelt muttered as she looked around, finding familiar marks in the architecture.

"And did you just make that book float in your hand?" That's it! First, Gillian barges into her room early in the morning, saying to come with her as she needs her help. Then she just grabs her, and they teleport who knows where — without any magic circle whatsoever!

"What kind of freakish powers does she have?" First, she can control both light and dark, demonic and angelic powers with ease, and mix them like it was the world's most natural thing — IT WAS NOT FREAKING NATURAL!

Then, use "magic" like telekinesis and even teleport without any magic circle! On top of this, treating Fallen leaders like they were an annoyance and throwing them around like some used rags?

Not to speak about the many strange things happening around her — like the sudden interest of Maou in her, or even the event that happened last night.

"Just what the heck was that pillar of light!? Mittelt almost suffocated from the sheer amount of holy power!"

It had been weeks since she started living with Gillian and her "brother"; still, she was no closer to finding out what or who they were! She only knew it was better to be on her side than against her.

Yeah. After witnessing what happened with Raynare, she was right to be afraid and careful.

"Please put that stock back." With a simple motion, a smaller tower floated before Mittelt, hovering before her gently.

"Are you really only bringing Mittelt here to fetch you books? What do you think we are? A courier?" The frustrated fallen asked with a glaring look.

"Hmm..." Gillian glanced up from her book, watching the little fallen through her expensive-looking spectacles.

Gillian's glasses were freaky and weird for Mittelt! She never saw a similar thing before.

It had multiple lenses that moved in and out of her vision. The frame was made from some strange metal and crystal. The lenses were transparent but played in a prismatic hue, constantly changing, and weird magical symbols ran through them — likes she never saw before.

"What's that glass anyway?" Mittelt asked herself again and again but was too stubborn to ask directly.

"More like my small cute assistant. Oh! Speaking of assistants! Can you fetch me a mug of coffee? Please? Without sugar and milk. Bitter and dark like a burned-out salaryman's darkest fantasies. Thanks!"

"Guuhhh!" She had enough! With a swipe, she knocked over the floating tower of books. "That's it! Mittelt wants an explanation! Where are we? Ugh!"

Suddenly, a book hit the small fallen in her head, knocking her down for a moment.

"Be quiet, someone is trying to read."

"Who was that?" With a sneering expression and rubbing the place where the book hit her head, Mittelt searched for the person with ever-intensifying rage. "Who dared to hit Mittelt in the head with a book!? Who dares to oppose...!? UGH!" One more book flew and made the girl stumble, making her blank out for a few seconds.
