The Batman One-Shot

You two were getting "surprise attacked". Again. Bruce always joked that he could sense this stuff and had "special powers no one knew about. Not even Alfred." You actually used to believe him, up until a month ago, when you were getting surprise attacked so many times. This time you were punching your attacker against a car, while Bruce was doing the same to his, but on the ground.

You slammed your head against your attacker's head, and he was either dead or unconscious. Both work, you thought. You got up, and Bruce was still punching his attacker. You suddenly felt a wave of pain on the right side of your stomach. You looked down and there was a knife lodged into your side.

Damn guy must've stabbed me before I knocked him out. You thought. You looked back up, and Bruce was finally done punching the dude. You walked to stand next to him. He pointed at the knife in your side. "You got stabbed." He said. You scoffed. "Really? Wow. Didn't realize." Bruce then reached to pull the knife out, but you slapped his hand away. "Don't take it out. It's the only thing keeping me from bleeding to death." You said. He hummed in response.
"C'mon. Let's get you fixed up." He said as he led you to his Batmobile.

You reached his mansion, and he took you to where he kept his first aid kit. You sat down in a chair and he kneeled beside you. "You ready? This is gonna hurt like hell." He said. "Just get it over with already." You hissed. The pain was starting to get to you. Then, without warning, Bruce yanked the knife clean out from your side. "OH, F##K!" You yelled. "I said it would hurt." He grunted. "I thought you said you'd been worse than stabbed before." He added
"Yea, but I don't get used to the pain." You seethed.

After patching you up, and wrapping some gauze around the wound he offered you a ride back to your apartment. You kindly accepted. "Do you mind walking up with me?" You asked. He nodded. As you got out of the car, you saw a big figure walking towards you. "Y/N!" It called. You recognized the voice. Oh, god, not now. The figure stepped into the light, and just as you assumed, it was none other than the Penguin.

Bruce saw him, and immediately pinned him against the wall. "What the hell do you want?" Bruce hissed. "Well, to see my daughter of course. Needed to check up on her. She wasn't answering my calls." Penguin replied. You looked at your phone, which was muted. 6 missed calls, 8 texts. Man, this guy is desperate. You clicked on the voicemail, and played it aloud. "Hey, sweetie. You with that bat guy again? I'm telling ya, he's a bad influence. If your with him, find out where he's goin' next. A buddy of mine wants to pay him a visit." The recording stopped. You looked at your dad. Oh, god, if looks could kill. You then looked back at Bruce. "Look, I can explain-"

Bruce dropped your dad and walked over to you. He was angry. He pointed to Penguin. "...That man. Is your father?" He questioned. You just looked down. "ANSWER ME!" He roared in your face. "Yes." You could feel yourself tearing up.

"Why didn't you tell me? I shared everything with you! What else are you lying about? Hmm? Are you his spy? Do you tell him everything I'm doing? My every move?"

You looked down again. You didn't dare look at him. Or your father.

"WHAT'S YOUR PLAY IN THIS DAMN GAME?" He shouted.

"MY DAMN PLAY IS MYSELF!" You shouted back.

"Why do you think I never told you about this?! Because I'm ashamed! That man..." You pointed to your father. "Is a horrible person. He used me to get to you. I don't exactly go around advertising that I'm his daughter! This city is full of
sh!theads. Full of 'em! I teamed up with you to guard the citizens from them. Why do you think I did that? Because my father is a sh!thead himself. In fact, he may just be the leading sh!thead! And, guess what? He's connected with all the big
sh!theads in this city. I know them. But not like you do. I know what they do, when they do it, and, most terrifyingly, why they do what they do. I knew I couldn't stop them alone. So, I found you. We teamed up. End of story." You finished.

Bruce was speechless, and your father just started walking away. You let him. He's caused enough trouble. You turned back to the man with the pointed helmet.

"And if you're going to judge me and change your entire attitude about me for my relations, and my opinions, then you might as well be one of those sh!theads, too." You said. You turned around and started walking towards the door of your apartment building.

"At least you have someone." A voice said behind you.

"What?" You turned back around.

"At least you have a parent." Bruce said. "I watched mine die right in front of me. I didn't look away. I knew it would be my last memory of them, and if that last memory was their deaths, then so be it." You heard a tremble in his voice. You waited for him to continue, and he did. "Alfred might be dead now, too. I don't know. Alfred was- is always there for me. From that very day. I might have no one now."

You could tell he was trying to hold it all in. He had been through so much, starting at such a young age. You never really thought about how it impacted him. No one did. You walked up to him and gave him the tightest hug.

Bruce was taken aback by this. It had been so long since he was last embraced. He returned the hug, and just started crying into your shoulders. "You have me." You said. That just made him cry more and hug you tighter.

You two just stood there, in the dark. Cherishing the moment you both thought would never come.

A/N: Let me know if y'all wanna Part 2! BTW, This One-Shot is not about batman, from the DCEU. It's about the DC Batman movie that came out in March 2022. Just clearing that up.
