Finn came out when they were 15, but even when they were younger, started who knows when, they insisted to go by 'mariposa', it came to the point where no one actually knew his real deadname. hes hard headed, stubborn, and unapologetic, they get into fights frequently, even with his raging asthma. his asthma actually makes it to the point where others cannot actually smoke within like 6 feet him, otherwise they will literally have an asthma attack. so they carry a inhaler around everywhere subsequently. even with their asthma, he can definitely hold his own in a fight, even if they couldn't, they have the entire Gallagher family at his back.
Finns mother, Laurel Mackenzie, is extremely absent, to the point of Finn will have to stay with the Gallaghers for weeks at a time before their mom comes home and pays the bills with whatever money shes earned on her escapades. She does love Finn somewhat, she cares for him when shes there, but, that is a somewhat rare occasion. their dad, March Hanks, is deceased, he died from cancer when they were 5, and thats part of the reason he decided to go by mariposa before they chose finn. there is a possibility that finn could get the same cancer, which scares himself half to death, so they get defensive on the topic of his dad, cause he was a bloody amazing dad.
