I couldn't make it yesterday, so here's chapter Saturday lol
~18th December, 2021~Have you ever felt yourself smiling from your sleep, I think I did because why not, last night was everything. It's been a long since I went on a date with someone but omo it felt like yesterday that I broke up with my imaginary boyfriend and started dating Kolade. But let's not be too overjoyed, I enjoyed the night but I am not sure about it, he was worth the night. But never say never.
I sit on my bed watching a movie on my laptop, I pick up my phone next to me and by the time I see Francis texted about the advert I regret picking up my phone.
We've got work to do. By 11 there would be a Zoom Strategic meeting be there.
I check the time, some minutes before 11, before anyone says Jack I am up from my bed, brushed, showered, wore office be fitting clothes, locked my door, and joined the Zoom call. My morning was spent working, working, and working. I didn't get a break until some minutes before 4 pm because I had finished some part of my work.
Famished and tired, I walk downstairs to eat a whole packaged lunch as the hunger hitting me could be compared to a big ass truck carrying containers. Mum and Sewa were the only ones downstairs discussing food items and the market, I greeted them and walked into the kitchen. First, drink a whole bottled water before checking the pots if there's food.
"Aunty your food dey microwave .. Let me help you," Sewa says as she walks to the microwave.
I could see the jollof rice and chicken through the glass of the microwave and I started to salivate.
I sat next to Mum on the couch as I ate and watched the African magic epic movie with her. She is too intrigued as to why a rich queen would decide to frustrate her maid which her prince's son has eyes for. A very typical Nollywood movie.
"How's the work at Abuja?"
"Everything oh Daddy... I am really happy about this particular job. Did I tell you ?"
"Tell us what?" Mum askes first
"You are looking at the new Assistant chief editor."
"You got promoted?"
Obviously I almost said "Yes Mummy"
"Ohhh.. I am so proud of you" she hugs me.
"That's great news Tumi. How about you celebrate it when we are all home?"
"Not really Dad."
"Don't bring up four years ago Oluwatumininu," Mum says out of rage.
"But you know it still exists, you can't just forget it just like that."
"I chose to so do you."
"Ma force e na. It will take a lot ehn my dear, get closure maybe you will feel better."
"Closure??" I wasn't exactly sure getting closure with Tolu would be a near-great idea. To even hear my voice might be a problem. I wouldn't lie the dreams were more like nightmares of Tolu and me fighting have been scaring me to even see her and I am hoping we will get through the holiday.
"So any man you should be telling us about?"
The level at which my eyes grew large, it could pop out of its socket. I wasn't expecting that, I had run away from the boyfriend and husband talk for a while, and coming back to it was a shock.
"Where?"
"You know what I mean." she winks as Dad and I burst into laughter "You are laughing at your mother."
