Chapter 16

The Salvatores lead the three Mikaelson brothers to the tunnels that ran under the whole of Mystic Falls. "Now let's take them to our house," Klaus says. "Why can't you do it," Damon asks. "Because we hold all the cards and the longer the two of you take, the more danger that Elena is in," Kol deadpans. Damon and Stefan realize that they have no choice and move the coffins back into the Mikaelson house. When they reach the mansion, Rebekah is sitting in the foyer. "Oh good, you are back," Rebekah says. "But you," Damon splutters. "I what," Rebekah asks. "You are no longer needed," Klaus says. Damon and Stefan try to approach Rebekah but are forced out of the house by Kol and Elijah. Klaus approaches Finn's coffin and opens it to pull the final dagger. "What are we going to do with that," Kol asks, as he gestures to the locked coffin. "I have not decided," Klaus says. "I say, we drop it in the ocean," Kol deadpans.

"And apparently it was a bluff that you fell for," Rebekah amends. "Kol," Klaus says in between laughs. The vampire in question shrugs proud of his statement. 

Bonnie enters the room at the tail end of Kol's statement. "Ayanna says that we need to set it on fire," she says. "But that's boring," Kol complains. "Did Ayanna say what was in there," Klaus asks the younger Bennett. "No," she says confused. "It's our mother," Elijah says. "The same mother that made you all vampires, cursed you and asked another witch to place a spell on you that would end in her death," Bonnie asks. The four wake Mikaelsons exchange a look, "Yes," Kol deadpans. "Huh," Bonnie says. "I think that setting the coffin on fire is the best course of action," Bonnie says to Klaus. He sighs and nods to her. "Whipped," Rebekah and Kol mutter under their breath after exchanging a look.

Kol and Rebekah turn to their brother, they were very happy that he listened to someone's opinion other than his own. "How would you think that setting your mother's coffin on fire was boring," Abigail asks. "Uh, because it was not my plan," Kol deadpans.

Bonnie and Abigail take the coffin downstairs and prepare the spell to destroy it. Rebekah reunites with Tyler in the sitting room until Klaus comes in. "Bekah, how would you like to plan a ball," he asks. "Is this a ploy because I missed homecoming," Rebekah shoots back. "Partly," Niklaus says. "The other part is to show the Salvatore brothers that they are powerless against the full force of our family," he adds. "Fine," Rebekah says. Finn comes into the room, "Are you seriously letting her plan a party," he asks. "Would you like to take that away from her," Kol asks, coming into the room with Caroline. Finn sighs, and shakes his head. "Caroline, would you like to help me plan a party," Rebekah asks. "No she would not," Kol replies, knowing that if Rebekah and Caroline planned the party, he would not see Caroline again until the party. Caroline squeals, "I would," she says excitedly. 

"Nice try, Kol," Rebekah and Caroline say in unison. Kol shrugs, "I give up, it was a bad idea to put these two in the same room together and hope that they were friends," he adds. Klaus nods agreeing with his younger brother. 

Downstairs, Bonnie and Abigail finished setting up the spell that Ayanna led them to. The two living Bennetts link hands, creating a connection between them and their thousands of dead ancestors. They begin chanting and the coffin sets on fire, the flames grow higher as more of the Bennett line works on the spell as well. All of the sudden the fire dims, Bonnie tilts her head confused as the fire continues to dim. After a few minutes the fire went out completely and all that was left was ashes. 

"Wow," Bonnie whispers. Abigail smiles, "That's what happens when you trust your Ancestor line, they help you," she says.

Elena was in her room, it had only been a few days since Damon and Stefan rushed into the house concerned for her safety. She was used by the Mikaelsons to get the two Salvatores to play by their rules. She picked her phone off of her bed and dialed Caroline's number. "Hello," Caroline replies. "Caroline, can we talk," Elena asks. Caroline sighs, "Where," she asks. "Mystic Grille," Elena asks. The blonde sighs again, "Fine," she says. "Can you bring Bonnie, I know the two of you are talking," Elena says. "I'll see what I can do," Caroline says. Elena nods and then hangs up. She was hoping that if she could turn them against the Mikaelsons then they could get the locked coffin back.

"Why do I feel like she has an ulterior motive," Rebekah asks Kol. "Because she is a doppelganger and she most likely does," Kol replies.  

Caroline went downstairs with Kol following close behind her. "Bonnie," she called. "Yes," Bonnie says walking out of the kitchen. "Elena wants to talk to us," the blonde says. Bonnie looks down, "Okay," she says. "Let's go," Klaus says following Bonnie out of the kitchen. Caroline laughs, "We already have this one coming," she says, pointing to the Original who wrapped his arms around her waist. Klaus gives her a look, "Fine," she says. 

"I don't think Elena wanted you to bring the Originals with you," Damon says. "She did not say that she did not want them there," Bonnie argues. "Why would she want them there," Stefan asks. "To see if she can manipulate them like her ancestor did," Rebekah pipes in. "Oh wait that was Nik and Elijah, Kol had sense to stay far away," she adds.

Caroline, Bonnie, Kol and Niklaus enter the Mystic Grille and Elena looks up at them shocked. "Caroline, Bonnie," she says before looking at the two Originals. "I did not know that you were bringing them," she adds. "Well, you did not say that we were not allowed to," Bonnie argues. "Well I needed to talk to you about them," Elena says. "Well, don't worry darling, we are going to be over at the bar," Kol says. Caroline, Bonnie and Elena go over to a table as Klaus and Kol move over to the bar.

"Oh look, we were right," Kol and Rebekah say in unison. "She did have an ulterior motive," they add.
