I am Brazilian by blood, but I was born and raised by immigrant parents in the United States.
When I was born, I was diagnosed with severe congenital scoliosis, a tethered spinal chord, clubbed feet, and some other issues.
My parents were told I would never walk, and that I would need a ventilator to breathe due to trapped and undersized lungs, and that even on a ventilator I wouldn't have a long life.
I have had about 27 surgeries since then.
My whole life, I have been able to walk, run, breathe, and live, but that does not mean I did not face many difficulties. I struggled socially due to my very visible deformity, and also struggled significantly with mental health.
I was always very obsessed with fantasy, and hyper fixated on Harry Potter at a very young age. Then came Percy Jackson.
All of my imaginary friends were fictional characters. Sometimes they were all I had. I needed fantasy, and even now that I have many close friends and am in a loving relationship, I still need fantasy.
I started writing when I was about 8, but only got more invested in fan-fiction in particular around 12, then finally finished my first original novel at 17.
This story is a prequel to my novel, The Mirror, which is published on Amazon KDP. This is my only form of promotion, as I do not have social media.
I just turned 18 and I am trying my hand at being an author by trying to get my first novel out there, but without access to social media or excess funds for promotion, I have resorted to writing a prequel for the sole purpose of promotion.

Edit: I have a new promotional method I've been undertaking but I live in a non-english speaking country so it isn't the most efficient.
I have made a ton of scrolls and I've been handing them out to random people who speak English! I try to focus on people around my age or a bit younger, as I feel like that is my target audience.
