Every Christmas we go on a vacation to this old cabin. This year Jake couldn't be there so I had to be alone in a room with Larisa. The girl I can't stop thinking about, the girl who I've ignored for 2 months because otherwise I would break the stupid rule me and Jake made. We were on our way. I couldn't look at her. I wouldn't be able to stop looking at her gorgeous face if I start. She started looking out the window.
"There is a lot of traffic so it'll be around an hour longer drive than usual"
Amelie said. Because of the interruption of the silence she took a quick glance at me before looking back out the window. I was struggling with my headphones before I found out they just died.
"We can share mine if you want, you know to return the favor."
I couldn't say no to her I mean I love listening to her music with her, she always drums her fingers on her leg to the beat of the music. It was so cute. She asked if I wanted to put on a song I just replied with:
"No it's good, I like listening to your music"
It was the first time I said something to her in months, it felt good, comforting. I tried to fall asleep but I couldn't so I pretended to have a bad dream by moving around a lot. She was so caring and put on a softer song since her songs are usually not that calm. I started to get more peaceful. In the meantime I fell with my head on the middle seat where Jake usually sits. I felt her warm soft hand on my hair, I don't know what to do but I had to pretend to still be asleep so I did. Not even 10 seconds later she moved her hand releasing all contact we had, I wanted that contact back. I moved my head to get closer to her, half of my head was on her leg, the other on the seat. My hand laying fully on her thigh to get more comfortable in this position. For some reason she just moved closer to the window, making my head fall fully on the middle seat but my hand, my hand stayed put. She moved it and since I was no longer having contact with her I wasn't comfortable anymore so I pretended to wake up. I didn't say a word just like her. A while later we arrived.
"Oh no I'm so sorry we forgot to bring the air mattress but hey there is one of you guys less so you guys can share the bed"
My mom said while unpacking the car. I faced the ground in disappointment because I had to keep pretend to hate her. God why was this so hard, why did I agree to this stupid rule.
"Don't worry I'll sleep on the floor"
She whispered to me and walked to the car to help unload it. That afternoon I heard her call Raven and Chris telling them everything that happened.
"Maybe he's just scared you'll hurt him, I mean you did say some pretty nasty shit to him."
That was true, it was weird tho hearing Chris's voice since he bearly talks in school. I thought it was wrong to listen to her conversation so I just walked towards the room
"Yeah I'm sure you're right, shit I got to go"
She said after I had almost entered the room.
"Gossiping about me again"
I smiled a bit knowing she wasn't looking at me, as soon as she did I stopped.
"What do you want?"
She really wanted me to go away.
"I had to ask if you wanted to join us, we're playing games."
"Wich game?"
"Pictionary, c'mon for that you need to be with at least 4 people."
"Fine"
I walked towards the fireplace area where there was a big sketchbook.
"Okay so mother daughter agains mother son?"
Larisa asked.
"We where thinking, mothers against children."
Mom said. It's not like we had a choice so we started playing.
"Ok you guys go first"
Amelie said shortly after.
"You draw I guess."
"Okay boss"
She scoffed at me. I didn't even mind, it was nice hearing her voice again after 2 months. She was clearly drawing a cat, an ugly cat but a cat, I wanted to see her get annoyed because she's so cute when she is.
"Dog"
I said hoping for a reaction. None came.
"Horse"
I was joking and laughing a bit but then she gave me a very annoyed look
"Fine it's a cat, you take all the fun out of it."
At the end the moms won and we were not even close to winning. It was worth it though, because I was just messing with her the entire time.
