My Mistake

You know that feeling you get when you're waiting for something? You know, the feeling that time is slowing down in order to cause more anxiety then you already had and you just want to punch time in the face but you can't because it's time. Well that was the feeling I had as I awaited the pregnancy test I had in my hand, and as I waited I began to think about probably one of the saddest days of my life.

It had actually been a pretty good day I had received an A on a test and I was feeling pretty good ,that feeling faded pretty quickly once I arrived at my boyfriend Luke's house. There was a car there that I didn't recognize as anyone who was a friend of Luke's, I got this horrible feeling of dread in my stomach as I thought of different possibilities of who the mystery car could possibly belong to. I walked slowly to he door, trying to convince myself that Luke would never ever cheat on me and I was just overreacting. When I got to the door I knocked and awaited Luke to open it for me. Luke opened the door and when he saw me his face turned bright red,

"Hey Nikki what are you doing here?" He asked nervousness was clear in his voice.

"We're supposed to go to the movies, remember..." I answered him. That's when I heard someone walking down the stairs and asking,"Luke who's at the door?" The girl standing at the bottom of the stairs had pretty red,curly hair, unlike mine which was blonde and straight. I was able to recognize her from my math class, I was pretty sure her name was Jenny.

"Luke whats going on?" She had asked him.

"I was about to ask the same question." I said looking to Luke.

"Who are you?" Jenny asked me.

"I'm his girlfriend."I said crossing my arms.

"No, I'm his girlfriend!"Jenny said,she looked confused for a moment but that look quickly turned to hurt, then anger.

"Luke would you like to explain?"I turned to Luke glaring at him.

"I-I- "he started to stutter but Jenny interrupted,"you don't need to explain!""She then grabbed her keys and strolled out of the house. He turned to me," Nikki I- "

"just...leave me alone Luke."

"Nikki please listen!"That's when I finally got angry, I grabbed the closest thing to me which was his cordless phone and threw it at him, I managed to hit him in the face. "Oww!"He exclaimed.

"Bye Luke!"I said then turned on my heels. I could hear him trying to call out to me a but I ignored him and let the tears begin to stream down, leaving gross tear marks all over my face. I couldn't believe it, I had given everything to him, and I mean everything. I climbed into my car and slammed the door, and rode home.

My little sister was the one to snap me out of my thoughts, she was banging on the door and shouting at me.

"Nikki, open up!!"

"Okay just wait a minute," I called back to her, I could hear her sigh in annoyance but that quickly was pushed to the back of my mind as I read that stupid test. It was positive.
