My Mistake

I barged out with Ally trailing right behind me. I walked into my room and Ally watched me probably worried for my sanity. "What are you gonna do?" She asked.

"I'm gonna call mom." I answered her then pulled out my phone and dialed her number.

You know that feeling you get when you're so angry at someone you could yell every single curse word you know, then high five that person in the face with a chair? Well that's what I was feeling when the phone rang and rang and rang. It went on like that for two minutes before my mother finally decided I was important enough to answer.

"Hello." She said.

"Guess who showed up at our front door today." I answered,getting straight to the point. She was silent before she answered, "I don't know. who?"

"Oh you know the guy who left us for another women without even bothering to call, just leaving a note, does that ring a bell?" I retorted.

"Nikki I know you're mad but what else was I suppose to do?" She answered timidly.

"You should've done what you usually do when you ditch-" she interrupted with, "Nikki you know that's not fair."

"Yeah and you know it's true." I fired back. She became mute again. Ally obviously knowing that this was going nowhere fast, simply grabbed my phone and hung up on my mom.

"What do we do?" She whispered.

"We can't kick him out, so we just try to ignore him." I told her. She nodded then walked out of my room into hers. I sighed and slid onto my bed and glanced at my stomach. "This is your fault." I muttered to the baby inside.

-Time Skip-

"Beep, beep, beep!" The next morning I was jarred awake by the constant buzzing of my alarm clock. It was Monday which meant I had to go to school. I leaned over tiredly and turned it off. I dragged myself out of bed and into the bathroom to start my morning routine. I ate breakfast and ran out of the house before the chance of running into my father presented itself. I got into my car and started to drive. The whole time my mind kept coming back to my current problem. I tried to distract myself but it didn't work, no matter what I couldn't help but think about that baby.

The minute I walked into school my friend Alex walked up to me. "Hey Nikki, what's up?" She asked me, "oh you know, the usual stuff." I replied my stupid thoughts going back to the baby. She looked at me.

"What?" I demanded when I noticed the look she was giving me.

"I'm not sure if you want to know." She said timidly.

"I can handle it, what's going on?" She took a deep breath. "Luke has a new girlfriend!" She blurted.

"What,Who?" I demanded. "It's that new girl Candace." She answered giving me a look of sympathy. I closed my eyes and counted to ten then said, "You know what I don't care, it's his life he can do whatever he wants." I said and sighed. She nodded.

"Brrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggg." The bell rung.

"Bye." I called to Alex waving over my shoulder hurrying to my first class. When I walked in Audrey was waiting for me.

"What happened?" She demanded. I hadn't talked to her since the appointment. I was about to answer when he walked in with her.

" Later." I answered motioning in their direction. She nodded in agreement. The teacher walked in and everyone got quiet.

"For the next two weeks we will be working on a project," everyone groaned, "I will be assigning you partners so listen for your name." She continued completely ignoring another chorus of groans.

"Audrey you'll be with Luke." She began but Audrey was quick to interrupt.

"Excuse me miss but I can't work with an arrogant pig." She spat, looking straight at Luke. I chuckled. Luke glared at me.

"I'm sorry Audrey but you'll have to manage." The teacher answered. Audrey slumped way down in her chair muttering something that I couldn't hear. I smiled and the teacher kept on reading, but when she got to my name the smile was wiped clear off my face.

"Nikki you'll be paired with Candace."
