We started immediately. I was able to convince them to let me keep my hair. Thankfully.
It was simple things at first. Then, it was harder things. They progressively got harder.
I relived my life before I left. I remembered things that would haunt me for the rest of my life.
We trained for about 2 days, then Owens said it was time for me to go. Papa protested, but soon agreed.
"Goodbye, One. And good luck." He said. "I fear this is the last time I'll see you. You did well, my daughter."
"Goodbye, Papa." I said. I hugged Owens. "Thank you, for everything."
"Of course. I'll see you soon, Y/N." He said. I was escorted out. They gave me a car and a map, with a route picked out.
And I drove. I drove for a whole two days before I finally reached Hawkins. Owens' told me there was a gate. It was from where the girl had died.
I pulled into the trailer park, then walked into the trailer.
I opened the door, and it slammed behind me. I closed me eyes and sighed.
Sure enough, there was a gate. And it had been opened, or tampered with. There was no covering. I sighed heavily. Those damn kids had gone into the Upside-Down.
I sighed, then walked out and opened the door ro Max's trailer. Everyone's head shot up as the door flung open. I sighed in relief as I saw them all standing there.
"Y/N?" Steve asked. I looked at him. There was bruising on his neck, and something wrapped around his abdomen.
"What the hell happened?" I asked. "Who the hell tampered with the Goddamn gate? Who thought that was a good idea? Do you even know what we're up against?" My voice got louder as I spoke.
"Calm down." Steve said. I looked at him.
"'Calm down'?" I asked. "Really? The past four days have been absolutely awful! I found out my cousin is trying to kill everyone! I have relived countless amounts of horrible moments in my life, I have been training for countless hours, I have had to go above and beyond, I have driven for two whole days, and when I finally get here, I find out my idiotic friends and boyfriend were stupid enough to go into the most dangerous place ever!" I yelled.
"Sorry." He said. "But it was purely incidental. I promise."
"You look like you've almost died! What the hell happened?" I continued.
      "Bats." Dustin said. "Evil bats."
"You're all idiots, but at least you made it back." I said. Steve walked over to me and hugged me.
My body loosened as I wrapped my arms around him. I nuzzled into his neck. "I'm happy you're here." He said.
We separated. "Okay, here's the plan." I said. "I'm going to go into the Upside-Down, you're all going to stay here and not be dumbasses." I said.
"What? No." Nancy said. "We all have to do this together."
"Pardon me, but I'm the one who has the best chance at killing him." I said.
"No. We aren't risking it." Nancy said. "We need just the right moment."
"When he isn't able to defend himself." Dustin said. "When he attacks his next victim, we can attack. He'll be vulnerable. Defenseless."
"Defenseless? What about the army of bats?" Steve asked.
"True, we'll have to find a way past them. Distract them somehow." Dustin said.
"And how do we do that?" A guy asked. I didn't know him.
"No idea." Dustin answered. But once they're gone, he doesn't stand a chance. It'll be like slaying sleeping Dracula in his coffin."
"That all seems good in theory, but there is no pattern to Vecna's killings. I mean at least not one I can decipher." Robin said. "We don't know when he's going to attack next. We don't even know who he's going to attack next."
"Yeah, we do." Max said. "I can still feel him. I'm still marked, cursed. I ditch Kate Bush, I draw his attention back to me."
"Max." Lucas said. "You can't. He'll kill you."
"I survived before. I can survive again. I just need to keep him busy until you guys can get into the attack. Then you can chop his head off. Stab him in the heart. Blow him up with some explosive Dustin cooks up. I honestly don't care how you put this asshole in his grave. Just... whatever it is.. whatever you do.. try not to miss?" Max said.
"Okay.." Nancy said. "But if we're going to do this, we're going to need weapons. And not just Y/N."
The guy, I learned his name was Eddie, showed them a place.
He put a mask on. For some reason. Then we snuck into an RV.
Eddie hot wired it. Steve jumped in the seat when the people started banging on their windows.
       "Drive, Steve! Drive!" Dustin yelled.
      It was chaos.
I stared out the window once we made it out. My eyes fought to stay open. "You should sleep." Dustin said. "We have a big fight coming up soon."
I nodded once, then leaned against the wall. Sleep came easily.
I only woke up when Steve tapped my shoulder. "Hey." He said.
"Shit, how long was I out?" I asked.
"Not too long." He said. "We're getting stuff ready for the fight."
"Good. I'll be out in a second." I said. He walked out. I stood up, and followed him.
I walked down toward the woods. There wasn't much I could do to train. I didn't want to lose too much energy.
I settled on trying to push a tree down. Hard, but not too hard.
My first attempt failed. Second one as well. I kicked it in anger.
"Fall down, you stupid piece of junk!" I yelled. I paced back and forth, trying to find an angering memory. It wasn't too hard.
I decided to focus on the one where I was being dragged into a room. The anger I felt. I heard my screams. It worked. I pushed the tree down, effortlessly.
I wiped the blood off of my nose.
I had this horrible feeling. This feeling that something was going to go wrong. We were going to lose.
I walked out of the woods and back up toward Steve and Robin. Once I reached them, I sat on the ground next to Steve and put my head in his lap.
Once everyone was done, we piled back into the RV. I sat up front with Steve. I stared out the window. We stopped at the Creel house. Max, Lucas, and Erica got out.
We parked outside the trailer park, out of sight.
"Let's go over it one more time. Phase one." Nancy said.
"We meet Erica at the playground." Robin said. "She'll signal Max and Lucas when we're ready."
      "Phase two." Nancy said.
"Max baits Vecna." Steve said. "He'll go after her, which'll put him in his trance."
      "Phase three?" She asked.
"Me and Eddie draw the bats away." Dustin said.
      "Four." She said.
"We head into Vecna's newly bat-free lair, and... flambé." Robin said.
"Nobody moves on to the next phase until we've all copied. Nobody deviates from the plan, no matter what. Got it?" She asked.
      "Got it." They all said.
She looked at me. "Got it?" She asked. I nodded once. She knew that if push came to shove, I would deviate and probably end up dead.
We all grabbed our things and snuck into the trailer park. We ran to Eddie's trailer. Steve went through first to get everything set up.
One by one we all went through, sending stuff in between each person. We all got out and started to walk, leaving Eddie and Dustin behind.
I walked further ahead. I watched as Robin jogged passed me. "Hi, Y/N!" She yelled.
"Watch out for vines!" I yelled.
      "Thank you!" She replied.
She came back shortly after. "We aren't lost." She said, jogging passed me.
We finally made it to the playground. We walked toward the shimmering light. Erica. I touched it.
"Copy that. Signaling the lovebirds now." She said. A few seconds later she spoke again. "Okay, the lovebirds have copied. Max is moving into phase two: distract Vecna."
"So far so smooth." Robin said.
"Yeah, we're not even at the hard part yet." Steve said. I walked closer to the house. "Hey. Not too close."
I stopped at the edge of the road. He was there. I could feel him. His energy.
A few minutes had passed. "Okay, initiating phase three: drawing away the bats." Erica said. She spoke into the walkie talkie. The bat's flew off as the sound of a guitar rang out.
"Phase Four." She said. I tapped the light, then we all walked to the door. We opened it.
There were vines everywhere. I strategically walked to avoid touching them. We successfully made it up the first set of stairs.
They got their weapons out. The ground shook. Steve grabbed me to keep me from falling. It stopped.
Robin was grabbed by the ankle. Steve and Nancy immediately went to help, but they were grabbed as well. They were being suffocated.
I tried to help, but soon I joined their fate. I watched as the life was sucked out of them. I was in discomfort, but for some reason, I didn't feel like I was about to die.
I tried to use my powers to break them free, but I couldn't. I could only watch.
Steve looked at me desperately. I attempted again.
I reached for Robin, thinking I could maybe maneuver it off of her, but it grabbed my arm and tightened.
Suddenly, we all dropped. They pulled away from us.
I stood up and started to walk forward. "Phase four: Flambé." Robin said.
We continued to walk up the stairs and up to the attic.
He was hanging there. Vines held him up. Robin lit one of our homemade bombs and Steve threw it at him.
He immediately caught fire. Steve covered me. Henry screamed in agony.
He walked toward us, his body burning. He lifted his hand and Robin started to float.
"No!" I yelled. He looked at me, dropping Robin.
"Y/N.." he said. He lifted me up. I felt my body move toward him.
"Don't hurt them." I said as I got closer.
"I won't.. so long as they stay back." He said. "You are a part of something bigger. I cannot let you die yet."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You are a part of my plan." He replied. He was using my body as a shield. That's why the others did nothing. "You, my dear Y/N.. are my legacy. You are worth so much to me. Although, I will have you know.. if you cause too much.. trouble, I will not hesitate to harm to you." His hand grazed my face.
I moved my head away from him. "Y/N.. you and I.. we are not all that different." He said.
"I am nothing like you." I replied.
"I would not be so sure. We were both given to Brenner by our mothers. Betrayed. Simply for being different.." He said. "We are both powerful.. we have the same blood in our veins."
"My mother did not betray me." I said.
"She gave you up." He said. "She left you to be abused. To be harmed. I remember the sounds of your screams as he forced you to fight. To kill."
"She had no choice. He was going to take both Matt and I." I said.
"She was weak! Just like my mother. Just like my father." He said.
"She tried.." I said. "She tried to save me.."
"No, she didn't." He said. I heard four chimes. Max. "It seems I have won anyways." I heard Nancy's gun cock.
He looked toward her, which gave me enough release to push him back with my powers. He stumbled back.
I lifted my hand and continued to push. "You are strong, but you are not strong enough." He said. "You may never be strong enough if you aren't willing to join me and my ways."
I raised my other hand. A loud scream escaped me. I felt my body raise again. I could barely breathe, but I continued to fight.
I screamed again, as he was pushed back slightly. I felt blood trickling down my face. Tears from my eyes.
I pushed harder. I heard gunshots as Nancy walked forward. It distracted him enough to the point where I was able to push him through the wall. He managed to get a better push, which sent me flying.
I landed on the other wall, and my body fell. Steve immediately ran to my side.
"Holy shit!" He said. "Holy shit, are you okay?"
I looked around. Red was filling my vision as I blinked. I reached to my face and touched under my eye.
I wasn't crying earlier. I was bleeding. Steve helped me wipe it out of my eyes.
"Holy shit." He said. He hugged me. My brain shut off.

When I awoke, I was in Nancy's bedroom. I sat up, my stomach growling.
I got out of bed and slowly walked down the stairs. They all looked at me when a stair creaked.
Steve and Nancy were sitting in the living room. Steve stood up the second he saw me.
I walked down to the living room. Steve met me at the edge and walked me to the couch. "You okay?" He asked I nodded.
"Max?" I asked.
"He uh.. he got her." He said. "But she's alive. Kind of."
"She's brain dead." Nancy said. "They don't know if she'll wake up."
I sat down and stared at the ground. "It was my fault." I said.
"It wasn't your fault. If anything, it was Jason's fault. He intervened." He said. "He thought that Lucas was doing it to Max, and it turned into a fight and he stepped on the walkman."
"Did anyone else..?" I asked.
Steve looked to the ground. "Eddie." He said.
"Oh." I replied.
"The gates connected. Hawkins is a mess." Nancy said. "So many people are missing."
I stood up. "And Henry?" I asked. "Is he dead?"
"No." Nancy replied.
"So that was all for nothing? Max practically dies, Eddie does die, Henry lives, and the end of the world is still coming?" I asked. They both looked to the ground.
I stood up and walked out of the house. All of that effort. The lives that were taken, and we still lost.
I vowed I'd kill him.
The next day, I helped them gather clothes and stuffed animals for the people who lost their stuff.
I walked outside and hugged Steve. He kissed my head softly, then we walked over to his trunk to organize things.
"Did someone order a pizza?" Mrs Wheeler asked. I looked behind me.
My face turned into a smile as I saw Argyle's van. They all got out. I smiled as I saw them.
I ran toward them and immediately hugged El. "Hey." I said. I touched her head. It was shaved. "Oh, God. Are your powers back?" I asked. She nodded. "Good."
Jonathan hugged me next. "Hey. Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yes. Jonathan, it wasn't an accident." I said.
"Believe me, I know." He replied.
I hugged Will after that. "I'm happy you're safe." I said.
"I'm happy your safe! Eleven told us you had some sort of big fight." He said. I nodded once.
I gave Argyle a hug next, then walked back over to Steve. "Everything better now?" He asked.
      "A little bit." I replied.
I went with El and the others to the hospital. I stayed in the van, but afterward we went back to the old cabin.
We cleaned it up some. I went to my old bedroom and sat on the bed that was still there.
I thought of the memories I had with Hopper. I cleaned my old room. The plan was that El and I were going to hide out for awhile.
She told me that Papa had died, and that the government was also looking for us.
I heard a car pull in the driveway. I safely assumed it was Steve and continued working. Five minutes later, I heard a soft knock on the door.
"Come in." I said. The door opened. "Hey, Steve-" I looked at the door.
Hopper stood there. "Holy shit. Are you real? You look real." I said.
"I'm real, kid." He said. I stood up and hugged him. "Hey."
"How are you here? Mom- I mean, Joyce said that you had died." I said.
"It's not important right now." He said. I separated from him. His head was shaved, and he was in fairly good condition. I touched his head. "I know. I stole El's look." He said.
I laughed. "You lost weight." I said.
"Did I?" He asked with a smile.
       "I missed you." I said.
"I missed you too, Kid." He said. El was lingering in the doorway.
We walked out together. I immediately ran to hug Mom the second I saw her. Hopper and El joined.
"Mom.." I said. She looked at my face.
"You look kind of rough." She said. "What happened?"
"A lot.." I said. "So much.. we'll have to explain it."
"What matters is that you're safe." She said.
       I walked toward Will.
A few seconds later, I felt a chill down my spine. Will felt it too.
I turned around and looked to the sky. There was thunder. It started to snow.
Or.. whatever it was inside the Upside-Down.
We walked through the woods until we reached a clearing. I walked towards the dying grass. It was leaking into out world. I touched a dying flower.
Dark clouds were seeping in through the cracks. The world was red. I knew we had truly lost.
Whatever was truly coming, was coming soon.
