...
The throbbing pain that radiated through your body was what finally roused you from the depths of unconsciousness.
It felt as if you had been chewed up and spat out over and over again, every nerve-ending alight with an intense, jarring ache.
Even the simple act of opening your eyes had became a slow and draining task, the blinding glare from the ceiling above proving too much for your unadjusted vision.
After a downright embarrassing struggle - you finally managed to crack your eyelids open and lift your heavy head, only to find yourself carelessly cast into the corner of a sterile, white room. The ceiling loomed low above you and the table in front barely reached your thighs as you wobbled unsteadily to your feet.
You took a moment to assess your condition, the thrum of a headache vibrating in your head as you noticed that, while nothing seemed broken or severely bruised, your tail had an odd and painful bend to it..
The excessive ache in your back, tail and head made you grit your teeth in discomfort.
As you thought back to how you ended up in this blindingly white room, the scent of the sky creatures seemed to have an undertone in the air, filling your nostrils with an oppressive reminder of who had caught you.
You felt your anger return and swell within you as the memories flooded back - how that sly monstrosity had taken your moment of weakness and used it against you.
The details were murky but the humiliation and unfairness burned brightly in your mind.
Your tail was strained as it instinctively whipped around you in a painful show of frustration, ears flattening against your head as you circled the table, searching for a way out of this puny enclosure.
Your eyes locked onto the door at the far end of the room. Cautiously walking over to it, you found it sealed shut, a cool metal barrier blocking your path to freedom.
You banged your fists against the surface, snarling at the thing that stood between you and your escape.
Spinning back around, you were startled to see...yourself?- an entire wall seemed to shimmer like the surface of the ocean, mirroring your appearance back at you.
That sudden reminder of home only fueled your anger further.
You walked over to the reflective surface, fingertips grazing the cool material as you squinted at yourself. Tilting your head, your ears stood perked up and alert - baffled by how these creatures had managed to mimic water so perfectly.
They were such stupidly clever beings.
They had the intelligence to create destructive machines that had ultimately led to their own downfall and the devastation of everything around them.
..And now they were here, poised and determined to lay their destructive fingers on your world too now, cursing its life with their disease.
The thought had your blood boiling, hand forming a tight fist that slammed against the surface before you. You repeated the action, again and again, face contorting into a snarl as your frustration spewed.
They couldn't keep you here! You had a family, a clan you needed to help protect from the likes of them!
Suddenly, you felt the wall begin to splinter beneath your repeated blows as your reflection broke and distorted. The sound of hissing escaped the damaged area and you stepped back cautiously, eyes scanning the room for any sign for what was happening.
