Chapter 6

Ocean Ruck

January 13, 2145

I walked over to the infirmary. I opened the door slowly and walked in. A nurse came up to me. "Ocean Ruck?" The nurse asked. I nodded barely. She moved out of the way. "Go ahead." I walked in more.

I heard the nurse follow behind me. My heart rate was starting to go up. The General was probably looking at my monitor and seeing my heart rate going up, which is bad for me, because he would know that I get nervous pretty easily.

I walked into a room. There was a bed on one side of the room, and a tray with doctors materials on it. I stopped walking. The nurse kept walking. She walked straight to the tray. She turned around and smiled at me. "Set on the bed." She demanded.

I swallowed hard and walked to the bed. I turned around and jumped on. I saw her getting on gloves. She turned around and smiled. "Okay. Today's the day you get the nasty monitor out of you." I stared at her, still a nervous wreck.

"What?" I asked. She smiled again. "Am I out of the program?" I asked.

"I cannot give you that information. Now, please. Lay face down on the bed." I sighed and laid on the bed. I was looking down on a mirror that was facing me. I saw the nurse come over to me and strap my head to the bed. She looked in the mirror at me. "This won't hurt a bit."

I closed my eyes. I heard a machine start up. I opened my eyes again and saw a claw make its way to my neck slowly. Then, I felt it grab my monitor. I felt a sharp pain from my neck, running down my back.

I screamed in pain. I closed my eyes again until the pain was gone. "Okay Ms. Ruck. You are done. I'm going to stitch up your neck now." I started to breath heavily. I couldn't think straight. With my monitor gone, I don't know what to do. I just laid there.

I felt another sharp pain, not as bad as the first one, on the back of my neck. I swallowed hard. "You're done." I felt the straps on my head come off. "You can get up." I sat up slowly. I turned to her and looked at her. "I'll call your parents to pick you up now." I stared at her without moving. "Please, make your way to the parking lot."
