Ocean

January 13, 2145

Alex and I walked into the house. I looked up and saw Father and Mother talking to a older looking man and a women. They all turned to us. Mother and Father had worried faces, and the older man and the women had straight faces.

"Miss Ocean?" The older looking man asked. I nodded lightly. He walked up to me and shook my hand. "Hello. My names Cornel Graff. I am here from Space School to talk to you." I swallowed hard. I felt Alex come up behind me and put his hands on my shoulder. "Hello, Alex. It's been awhile."

"You remember me?" Alex asked. Cornel nodded.

"Of course I do. I wanted you in my program the last time I talked to you, but you declined." I looked at Alex. He shook his head.

"Anyway, I'm sorry, Cornel, but Ocean had her monitor taken out today and she's still in shock from it." Alex explained. Cornel Graff smiled.

"I know. I ordered them to take out the monitor." I shot him a confused look.

"Ocean, they selected you to go to Space School." Mother said softly. I looked at Cornel Graff with wide eyes.

"Yes. You have been selected out of four new recruits from your school to come up with us and save the world from aliens." I smiled lightly.

"Then... Why..."

"I took out your monitor because I wanted to see your reaction for when they told you that they were taking out your monitor. You didn't react in any way where I didn't like it, so we chose you." I looked at Mother and Father.

"So you're just going to take Ocean that easily? I don't want her to go. Is she going to get hurt?" Mother asked quickly.

"It's up to Ocean if she wants to go." The women stated.

"I don't know." I muttered under my breath. Cornel Graff looked at me.

"Ocean, can I have a word with you outside?" Father shot up from his chair.

"You Sir, may not take my daughter outside to talk to her." Father snapped. "Come here, Ocean." I walked over to Father without saying a word to anyway. Cornel Graff turned around and got in Fathers face.

"Sir, you are interfering with my interview, and that is a federal offense. You have no right to tell me what to do with Miss Ocean."
